View Full Version : Doolin to Bohs?

Is there a possibility that Doolin could jump ship? Drogheda could finish fourth and outside of European qualification. Doolin could think that he would be better off at Bohs with their money as both sides would not be in Europe next season.

There's also a similarity to when he left UCD. He had a go at Drogheda fans recently, which was completely unfounded. Very shortly before leaving UCD he had a go at the club publicly in an attempt to be sacked, get compensation and then sign for Drogheda. Could he be thinking along the same lines again?

Hopefully, for Sligo Rovers sake so Sean Connor doesnt get the job.

This officially means that Johnny Mac Donnell is now the only EL manager who hasn't either a) been linked with the Bohs job, or
b) managed Bohs already

I heard McDonnell was a strong contender, but wants to see if he can end Pat's FAI cup hoodoo first.

Showaddy Roddy is still barfing on in his column about how he shud be manager!! I wud be suprised if any EL manager got it, i wud expect Bohs to go accross the water and look for one. Pat Dolan wud be the only decent manager i wud expect to go there

Where? The voices in your head? Don't be ridiculous.

And no, there's no chance Doolin will jump ship and we don't want the slaphead anyway.

He may not jump ship but if I was a Drogs fan I'd want him to walk the plank.

That's exactly where I heard it. They said it came from a source close to Bohs mind you. :)

So you mean we're stuck with him for the next 30 years at least  :(

I wouldn't be surprised if Bohs made a terrible decision & hired Doolin. He has afterall already proven he knows how to waste cash on average players & certainly Bohs will be looking to waste a lot of money goiing forward...

This is nonsense anyway. Read Dman's original post. Doolin is not being linked with us. Its just speculation on Dman's part. Doolin will not be the next Bohs manager any more than Mathews will and I sincerely hope he never manages Bohs.

With the money he's spent you should be in the top two and fighting for top spot until the final day. As it is there is a real chance that Sligo will pip you for fourth. Granted, you've won cups under Doolo, but Longford won cups under Mathews. Have to say I was impressed by the Drogs performances in Europe but Doolin must stand or fall on his league form. I fully expect next season to be make or break for him If the Drogs don't finish at least second he should be given the axe.

Agreed. Sick of baseless speculation.

I think that Bohs could probably have any manager in the Eircom League that they want apart from maybe Kenny and Mahon. That is meant as no disrespect to any club, but I think that the big budget would be a lure and the likes of Richardson, Fenlon, Connor and Doolin who may feel that they have gone as far as they can with their clubs or want a new challenge.

Please God it's Richardson and that would negate all the billions you are getting.

Slim chance of Drogs finishing 2nd this season & could be anything from 3rd to 5th. Drogs have been fulltime for over 2 years now so I think with the sums of money spent a better attempt at winning the league would be expected by the financial backers. If he survives next season he may be expected to win it?

I think i will have to hearthily disagree with you there. If you read down through the Drogheda message board and read the posts you will see large amounts of people looking for Doolin to be sacked, players being critisised(even Jason Gavin in a recent post), players to be let go and a few have had a go at the club and board. The terraces up there are worse! they do love to moan about something

And what makes you an expert on what gets said on our terraces
Like all clubs there is a lot of varying opinion on the manager and various players .Doolin has always had his doubters in Drogheda .Even if he won the leauge some people wouldnt be happy .We are as fickle as the rest of you .

The fact that Drogheda are the team id see most makes me your "expert". I came to the majority of home games last year, all of the Dublin games and all of the late cup games. Its been a bit more difficult to go to the games this season but i have been to a fair few. Fans in Drgoheda have a tendency to abuse their own players during games!

Well I can assure you that no source "close to Bohs" would ever link Johnny Mac to Bohs, unless you count Mad Tom as being a source "close to Bohs". He's not good enough for Pats so he's certainly not good enough for Bohs.
