most of yee are are missing the point here (no disrespect). if yee are contemplating in comming into the ground even at 2.30 forget about it as the new stand will be full. can yee not sacrifice a few pints for a prime position (the new stand)and ocupy it before those from rip van winkle land arrive. once yee get there in numbers yee can make as much noise as yee like. if this is organised properly it will spur on the team (also it will show the atmosphere on telly) one of the reasons that a gantry is being set up on the jinks ave side is ti display new advertising hording under the new stand by a company that has supported the bit o red greatly over the past few years. it is pay back time for them. this is the place where the noise should be comming from. do it now you have got only one chance

ok so lads....where are we going to go....decide in this thread....and then put up a new thread and tell everyone where to go and make noise!

I'm also keen on the TA stand, partly because it will hold the largest number of fans and partly because the roof will concentrate the noise infinitely better than the railway terrace. The mention of the cameras being on the other side has convinced me.
Have your pints early lads. The biggest stand in the Showgrounds has been quiet for too many years. That crowd have forfeited their right to it - time for a change. ;)

Another reason I'm pushing the Treacy Avenue stand is because I'm not worried about the Shed - I've no doubt it'll be noisy enough.
Remember the title-winning game last season? The ground was pretty full, with very few away fans, and the noise from the Shed was massive that night. This time there'll be less alternative places to go, with Derry getting 35-40% of the ground, so there'll be plenty of people in the Shed.

Intend having pints from early doors Sunday. Used to always stand in the Shed throughout lates 80s and 90s. Moved from there in the 00s but intend to return along with a good few other exiled shed lads this Sunday. Super Sunday with a bank holiday to follow! Only issue is if Stewards say area is full when you can always crowd a few more bods in there and try to move people down to Railway End.

akearins: What would a new skin for the drum cost?

Fivesilver
25/10/2006, 1:37 PM
I give 20 Euro no probs to the cause ! If you could find out a price and come back to us Alan we would know what to give.

I'll gladly chip in as well. See if you can get it done in the next couple of days. We can easily reimburse you with a whip-round in Mooney's.
If you can't get the skin in Sligo, then presumably it's got a make/model number and one of the Dublin-based lads could get it.
We're going to need all the extra noise we can get. Derry always have a few drums - reckon they borrow them off their buddies in the bowler hats. :p

akearins
26/10/2006, 2:01 PM
True. But to be honeest I wouldnt know where to look to get a new skin on the drum, maybe if someone could price one in the record room, but dont think they keep them in stock needs to be ordered, so might not have it in time. Reason I asked if fans were interested in getting a drum in the future was for future games. Also if ther wa interest we could price flags and whatever else and if fans are interested the Trust will have no problem getting these items.....Just call to tower any Tuesday @ 7pm and we will chat about what needs to be done

Smoke pellets? I can get hold of some that each give about 20-30 seconds of red smoke. Pretty harmless.

All we need now is a few trumphet players and we can blast out the Ring of Fire music and get a party atmosphere going.

Any rovers supporters in a brass band ?

Alan if you can get a price for a new one in town matty's one is fine so something the same would be cool.

I looked at one today. Proper marching band drum. 179 euro. The beaters cost another 40  for a pair, but the guy in the shop said they always have a few single ones lying around that they can sell for a lot less.
