Makes you think about media manipulation in supposed free economy...

Its much worse than just a free press. You can get the BBC. You have superb individual journalists like Seymour Hersh. But most of the public get there news from the morning chat shows and late night chat shows. And that is the way they like it. Which is why CBS has a former morning chat show host (Katie Couric) reading the main evening news. And has turned it into a guess what. A morning chat show! Local news affiliates of the big networks outside of New York and LA are all right leaning. Head into a place like central Pennsylvania and the local news coverage is really scary stuff. Overtly religious in tone. As are the local newspapers. There is an anti-european vent to much of the coverage too.

I noticed that & read they paying her 8m a year to pull back the ratings. Strange they think a tv presenter makes people watch the news - i would have thought it was the quality of the news coverage...
