Been to my local HMV in the last few days and picked up copies of the new Lemonheads, Sean Lennon, Nouvelle Vague and Sebastian Tellier albums. Have to say they are all sounding good at the moment.
The Lemonheads is exactly what I wanted, more Evan Dando songs about life and love, basically if you like the guy you'll like this album.
Sean Lennon is a bit early for me to call yet, I've only listened to it once now, but that first listen was enjoyable, although at a cost of 21euro I'd recommend trying to find it in Virgin or Golden Disks to see if it's cheaper. Or is you are in Dublin, wait two weeks and hop down to City Disks where they always have new albums being re-sold for about ten euro.
Nouvelle Vague's is like their first one, just a good chillout covers album, one for sunday mornings.
But the pick of the bunch for me is Sebastian Tellier's Universe. The music reviewer for the Mirror said about it two weeks ago that listening to it at home reminded him of listening to French funk music whilst walking through Harlem, until he remembered at the end of the album that he had never listened to French funk music whilst walking through Harlem. Thats a good enough selling point for me anyway!
Anyone else have any recommendations?
