Starts today.

As a Leafs fan, I'n hoping for a better return then last season. Balfour's gone but we got Mike Peca and we was one player that really impressed me in the Oilers playoff run last year. I won't forget that goal he scored against the Mighty Ducks in Edmonton.

Hopefully we'll make the playoffs. We beat the Canadiens in pre-season, which is good, imo. I don't know what to expect from Ottawa last year. Thought they had a decent chance in the playoffs. It won't be easy.

On another note, it's great to see Saku Koivu back after his horrific injury. Wish him the best.

I've fallen out of the news over the off season. Just checked the Penguins roster there. They seem to have finally signed Malkin and they've got Jordan Staal from the draft. With Crosby that's 3 exciting young centres. They'll have a lot of power but I don't know if they did anything about their defence. Sadly they won't be on TV for a while. If they've improved enough they might scrape the last playoff spot.

I'm off to see the Blackhawks in December. Wouldn't be a buff so will probably have to look at it more closely this year...

Hoping the Habs can make up for the collapse in the playoffs, SI haven't got that much faith in them but I do.

I hope to get to a Hawks game as well. Hopefully they will do better this year than last year (And better than the Cubs )

Not good news for the Leaf fans out there. They were hopeless tonight, got well and truly stuffed by Ottawa. Toronto are going to struggle to score this year, gonna be a rough one.

Buffalo beat defending champions Carolina in a shoot out after a 2-2 draw in reg time.

Here's to a good season.

I'm a bit of a Canucks fan but they haven't started the season very well. Does anyone watch games on the net? Where?

I'm a part-time Leafs fan and a full time Bruin. Not overly confident that either is going to have a good year but hopeful that one might surprise me :)

Hopefully things can only get better after losing 4-1 last night. We play em again tonight but I can't imagine the score will be muchof an improvement.

Mats Sundin scored from a penalty shot. Doesn't make for good reading.

Good to see a fellow Habs fan here - just have to hope that Huet stays fit and we may have a chance at the Playoffs this year - was sad to see Theodore go to the Avs.

Will be interesting to see how Tomas Plekanec does in the secondary lines as well

4-0 win for the Penguins over the Flyers. Sid Crosby picking up from where he left off last season with a goal and an assist.

I see Malkin isn't playing as he dislocated his shoulder in the preseason.:(

I was watching the Montreal Buffalo game last night. Partly due to my tiredness and also my drunkness, I didn't catch all of it. I thought Daniel Briere's goal was pretty good though. Good control.

I was so tired last night that when Buffalo equalised and then it went to OT I just turned off the telly and went to sleep. It was just too much!!

Vancouver lost 3-2 to the Avalanche last night :(
Going on the highlights at Canucks.com it was a great game. Colorado even had a goal disalowed (whistle had gone before the shot). Luongo is in great form in front of nets (he was amazing against Detroit and Minnesota) and along with the two Sedin's and Markus Nasland will be key to the Canucks drive towards the playoffs.
Here's hoping.

Check out the highlights of last night's game at Minnesota. The Wild won at the shootout but check out Luongo's save with the glove in the shootout, absolutely amazing.

The quality on view this season has been great so far.
Montreal under new coach Guy Carbonneau( and what a player he was in his day) are the most attractive team on offer..... GO HABS! :D

Went to see Chicago Blackhawks host the Phoenix Coyotes (coached by Wayne Gretsky) last Thursday. Less than 10,000 turned up despite the Blackhawks being on a semi decent run since their change of coach. it finished 1-1 and went to shoot out which is way more exciting than a penalty shoot out in football. I splashed out on some decent tickets (level 2) instead of the usual cheap option I take when watching US sports and we were rewarded with a coat check and a waiter service to save us having to go to the bar ourselves. Went to see the Bulls in basketball the night before and the place was packed. They really put on a show...

It was the biggest fight I've ever seen at a hockey match. 100 penalty minutes handed out, both goalies thrown out. Pretty exciting stuff.

You are not going to get me as an Ice Hockey fan to disparage the only GAA sport worth a w*nk ! The biggest indictment of the GAA is their failure to promote hurling outside a handful of counties.

And it isn't the real NHL because the National Hockey League started in 1917 when did the GAA League competition begin?

Calgary look the best bet for a Canadian Stanley Cup winning side this season.

I'd go for the Penguins as an outside bet. They have tremendous attacking talent including Sidney Crosby, who is arguably the best player in the NHL, but for the main part they're too young and inexperienced, this might have come to early for them.

4 of the 8 Eastern qualifiers are from the Atlantic division this year. It's been a very strong division this season. Good win for the Islanders. It's very hard to put multiples goals past Brodeur away and beat him in a shoot out after you gave up two late goals.

I think you're forgetting about Ottawa, not that it matters, since they'll probably go out in the first round. Tons of talnet, but not an ounce of heart equals early exit.

I don't want to see the Cup go to another team from an area that doesn't care about hockey. These cities have fans that turn out in droves when the club is winning, and maybe not even then, but more often than not they play to a lot of empty seats. Carolina is last year's champion, and their fans stayed away this year. The team played rotten, as well. Have the playoffs come down to two cities that are hockey-loving places, US or Canada. Get rid of the teams in Phoenix, Atlanta, Florida, etc, that don't know a hockey stick from a branch.
