Im not gonna deny that 3 points is obviously the main thing BUT I think a good performance is also important because confidence in the squad will be low at the moment after 3 losses in a row and the bad press the team has been getting.
If we win 1-0 comfortably then I will be happy. the main thing for me is that at no stage in the game do i want to see the team drop off and play defensively with loads of men behind the ball.

Can't see us keeping a clean sheet, with a poor defence and nobody capable of playing a holding role in midfield (eg Carsley). 2-1 is best we can hope for
A lot of typically Irish lack of ambition (yeah,Yeah..."we're being realisitic" etc. ba!!s!)
Bad defence  Finnan, O'Brien, Dunne, Kilbane(possibly) - a bad defence?
Cyprus aren't a bad team?! Johnny Giles said today that we should beat them at least 2-0 and that not one of the Cypriots would get into the Ireland team. But then, what would he know? he should login here and hear the real expert views :D "A 1-0 by any means would be acceptable !!"...and be a great confidence booster for the Czech game!
A midfield of McGeady, S. Ireland, O'Shea and Duff Or (which I think more likely, but not sure if I agree with) McGeady, Miller, O'Shea and Duff,(O'Shea probably in a holding role in either make-up.) and Keane and Clinton upfront should be too much for the Cypriots to handle.
Of course I agree that Carlsley should be in the starting team...I think that is unanimous?
Apologies for the optimism....but I expect a 0-3

Just curious: how manyif any, of the Cyprus team were beaten by Cork City earlier this season?

It seems we're all too optimistic. Staunton seems to think that a draw is acceptable. Seriously, I was willing to give him time to find his feet until I read that.
I'm no particular fan of Keane, but he would have eaten McCarthy alive for a comment like that, and rightly so.

Currently Wales losing 1 - 4, and with hatfuls being scored against the minows, the term "acceptable" begins to take on a different meaning.
Its probably now 0 - 4 or 5!

just took a look at this to see how hopeful most were - were you saying 4 or 5 nil to the cypriots!
