Was it Doolo or Mahon? My memory is a bit foggy. He left the season before Mahon came, right? Wouldn't mind us taking another go on him.

He left after the 2003 season I think. I don't remember anything about a bust-up, I thought he just left for a 'big' club.

It was during Doolin's time but I don't recall a bust up as such. He had made his intentions about a move clear and Doolin utilised him less around the same time.

Yeah, he was sent off in a 2-0 win against Derry (remember the days! :) ) and appeared on telly in a silly bobble hat afterwards in tears about it. He didn't start again, though that was mainly, as Aberdonian Stu said, because he'd let it be known he wanted to move on and so Doolin planned for the next season without him by playing Bambi Gallen up front. There were only four or five games left at this stage anyway, and Doyle was banned for two or three of those. Don't think there was a bust up.

He had a bust up with me. I called him fat down in Bray a few months ago and then he made big belly gestures at me after he scored.

To Aberdonian: Are you from Aberdeen?
He just spent a year there as a student.

Thanks John but I can answer myself.
I am from Dublin, lived in the Granite city for a year and have returned a few times for holidays.

I'm from Aberdeen, long time since I've heard or seen the word Aberdonian. All the best for Friday, but remember there's no shame in being second, we should know we've had enough practice this season.

he didn't have a bust up with Doolin, was at end of contract and accepted a better deal offered by Bohs who at time were champions, makes sense to anyone to move to a bigger club for better terms if they came calling, as did Johnny martin, Clive Delaney and others who left under simular circumstances

Interesting to see where those two particular names are now! Hardly at "bigger clubs" any more...
Moral of the story - stay with us and you'll be grand. :)

thats true pineapple stu, but moved to "bigger clubs" at that particular moment in time, remember this was a couple of years ago, Doyler moved to Bohs who were then Champions, when other two moved on I think UCD were relegated around that stage if I recall correctly. But in fairness you have made good progress under Mahon, great coach delighted he decided to stay on and not got to shels or whats left of them:D
Clive has signed for Bray from Derry, needed a move back to Dublin area, sure we at Bray will accept anyone at this stage, very lucky to stay up, not sure where Martin is now, think is injured more than he's played:rolleyes:
