Just seen thbis in the Examiner.... Since the tv3 deal on the eL not exclusive we'll soon see the RTE lies exposed...

--------------------------------------

FAI officials have long been disappointed in what they perceived to be RTÉ's lack of interest in the domestic game and they signed a contract with TV3 for coverage of the club season. But that contract is not exclusive and will not kick in until October.

Meantime RTÉ can, if they wish, negotiate exclusive rights to show any of the National League matches or the FAI matches that will be played between now and October.

RTÉ can negotiate the right to show any number of club matches that TV3 are not interested in live from October until the end of season. And can tie up a deal to allow them simultaneous transmission of any match with TV3. "There are eight weeks to go before TV3 come in with their coverage," said an FAI official. "RTÉ can have exclusive rights to all National League and FAI Cup games during that time. They claim to be interested in the game here in Ireland, this week will show whether they are or not."
