The Coca-Cola Championship meeting of Wolves and Sunderland, which will bring together Saipan foes Mick McCarthy and Roy Keane for the first time since their acrimonious parting four years ago, will be screened live by Sky Sports.

The game had been scheduled for Saturday, November 25th but has been brought forward to the Friday night for live television coverage.

I can magine Sky spending months hyping up this in a kind of "Unfinished Business" kind of way and having about 20 cameras focused on them throughout.

I guess they will just shake hands curtly and civilly, and that will be that. (If they still have their jobs then!)

I doubt if they shake hands at all, probably just ignore each other. The fact we are even talking about this, means Sky were right to bring the game forward!

Yeah I'm looking forward to it already and it's got nothing to do with the football. I'd be surprised if they shake hands at all.

I reckon Kenae will go to shake Mc Carthys hand not sure about the other way round though. I fly out to Barcelona the next morning so glad they moved it.

Well this sucks for me, Wolves are finally on TV and cant really cheer for them :(
(Though they are on this weekend I think). No way they'll shake hands

Did Keane not say in the Press Conf that he'd probably shake his hand? Can't remember but I thought so.

Don't think they'll shake hands but if they do, neither will mean anything by it.

I think he did Stuttgart thats why I think he will shake hands.

If I was Mick, unless he apologises for his past vitriol, I'd just ignore him.
Though would be sorely tempted to plant one on him;unfinished business in my book.No point starting this again:rolleyes:. If we are then I'd say exactly what you said only turn it around and say "If I was Roy"

Can't believe they brought it forward...all very amusing..ill go for a handshake....I can see keane going for it and I'd say mccarthy would want to cause any hassle and shake....

to be honest id say it could go either way...anyone got odds all ready?

With all the hype going into it the game will probably be a boring 0-0 draw!! Looking forward to it nonetheless!!

Wolves have gone off the boil and lost two in a row now.

I don't see a handshake taking place and certainly won't be initiated by McCarthy. Quinn no doubt will be fannying around the place shaking hands with everyone :D

They just brought forward another one, Crystal Palace, right around Christmas time (Dec. 22?)

Good Gift Grub this morning in the form of Mick and Roy signing in an Operatic way: "walked" "sent home" etc etc :D

Match tomorrow. Hoping for a Wolves win to keep Sunderland in the relegation zone below Wednesday. That's the only reason of course ;)

I hope Sunderland win as it would be good if Kavanagh and Elliot are playing in a winning team.

Of course that's the reason :p

Keane attacks "mercenary players":

"It was all about playing and doing well but priorities have changed, they're
more obsessed with money so I don't want them at the club anyway."

Didn't Keane have a clause in his contract with Man U to ensure that he
always remained the highest paid player in the club?

NeilMcD

No he denied that, he said in a few interviews that as long as he signed his contract and he was happy with it he would never ask for more just cause some guy comes in and gets more.

Surely it cant have been rising inflation that made him hold out for 50,000 a week back in 2000.

NeilMcD

No I presume he felt that he was entitled to that contract as the club was making so much money and he was a vital component in the winning of trophies at the club. What he has said all along is that a player is entitled to ask for what he feels he is worth but that once he signs his contract he should be then happy with what he has signed.

Well that contradicts what he has said about players being interviewed for Sunderland.....ah, who cares. I am looking forward to the game tonight:D

1-1 draw I predict and a brief handshake and that's it. However, I bet it won't be long before Mick's booming voice gets under Keane's skin. Must have the loudest voice of any manager in the leagues - can be heard miles away:eek:

However, Keane's willingness to articulate his feelings without holding back remains unaffected.

His attempts to add new blood to his squad ahead of today's deadline for loan deals - Sheffield United's Paul Ifill and Manchester United youngster Jonny Evans are thought to have been among his targets - seem to have reached a disappointing impasse, prompting an icy blast.

Keane said: "A lot of footballers these days, the first question they ask is: 'What kind of money am I going to be getting?' I find that amazing. That is my point, putting money in front of playing games, winning trophies.

"I would not begrudge any player a few bob. It is a short career and you have got to make it while you can. But don't get sidetracked by putting money before playing games."

That was Shearer. At the time a colleague of mine who's a season ticket holder there told me that Kluivert was on £80k p/w and Shearer did have such a contract which meant he had to have 2k p/w above the next highest earner.

I'd say this is going to be a very good game. Hopefully Sunderland will win.

Thank you. Thank you.

Disappointed with Millar, Elliott (despite his deflected goal) and Connolly. Best Irishman on the pitch Breen:eek:

God - does Mick have a loud voice shouting orders!!
