a ground if you can call it that all it is is a stand and a pub you couldnt go behind the goals the place is so bad.
the pitch was rock hard and as level as patricks hill:mad:
even during warm up if they hit the ball across the ground it would end up bouncing along.
the ref was as blind as stivie wonder (something both sets of fans agreed to)
the free kick they scored from wasn't even a free kick!
and a city team who played well below par with the exception of a few such as greg and napier!!

two funny things during the day
Miss Monaghan United!!!!! and id say if i shaved my legs id even look better

and gabriel noonan or whatever his name is on rte radio when discribing gregs shot off the bar "he bent the crossbar back"

I'd say closer to 200 people & might need to include the officials & players at that too. There was similar attendance at league game there last december but you'd think Monaghan could get a few more people out for a cup game? You have to wonder why Monaghan United bother - and to think some people beleive we should have a 16 team Premier division

I too can confirm there were 12 cows although the mainly black cow was a bit trickey to spot as sitting behind his other cow buddies on top of the hill.

Pitch was abismal - wouldn't have been too bumpy if they'd actually bothered to water it. Looked like they just cut a half foot of grass off during the week.

George O'Callaghan had IMO very poor game.

Mon U very poor bar the freekick, city just as bad & lucky to get the draw in the end. City should easily win 3 or 4 nil on tuesday.

Such was the standard of the match the cows didn't bother to come down the hill to watch either.

I didn't think the game was that bad on sunday.

monaghan tried to play as best they could. Pitch was terrible alright and the crowd was tiny. All a bit surreal with the cows and all.

City were ok going forward but the defence was dodgy all through and we could have lost it near the end. Devine very bad for goal.

It must be really tough for teams like monaghan to keep going. Must be the bar receipts Id say.

They must have been thrilled with their half of the gate from tuesday.

Away teams get 40% i think & even if accept the reported 18k receipts i'd say would take Monaghan a lot of league games to generate the 7k share from tuesday.

there was somethin in the programme last night giving out about the fans who travelled. Apparently we were giving "foul-mouthed abuse" to the players. and it was noticed by players and management. The wrost abuse I heard at city players was people (me included) telling them to "wake the fcuk up" which we were well within our rights to do. Anyway, shouldn't gunter have been paying attention to the match and not the fans, seeing as we know nothing about football  i'm well annoyed about this, cos we travelled bloody far and spent money we could have put to much better use than watching a half-hearted effort like that and all we get is abuse. When was the last time there was something in the programme thanking us for travelling?

i amoung others was in the main stand for some of the match in monaghan, when i wasnt taking pics, and i heard no abuse being shouted at either players or management, and for one was disapointed and shocked to read that piece in the programme.

the only abuse i heard all day was from a certain ex european exile who's now home in the shed again ;) , 'commenting' on the ability of the ref to ref the game :)

Yeah, after rereading it, I saw that, but surely that makes it even stranger- the chairman thanks us and the club criticises us  Ah well, it's probably cos we just don't know anything about football
