I have posted this on another thread but thought it might be useful on its own.
The Germany v Ireland game is listed as live on BBC3 at 7.30pm.
See here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree/listings/index.shtml?day=saturday&service_id=4288)

I only just found out from the fans forum, so I though I would put a post in here too, I would hate anyone to miss the match because they didn't know it was on. I though it was not been shown at all, I was looking through all the likely Freeview and Sky channels but I didn't find it, maybe I didn't check BBC3as it's an unlikely one, I didn't know they screened live matches. I hope they cover the rest of the group matches. Brilliant news, I will be recording the match onto my computer via my Freeview dongle which means I can do all sorts of playback tricks, (freeze frame slow motion etc..), I just hope it's a match worth watching!!

Thank God I checked this forum, I didn't think it was on TV either, I would have been sick if I found out it was on after the match!

It actually seems the guide(s) I used was wrong (and still is).
This is one of them

Maybe it was a late desicion by the BBC to screen it?

It's on German station ARD as well, which many people across Europe get on cable. ARD is also freeview on satelite.

For anyone in the U.S... I paid $10 to watch it on broadband internet with Setanta and it is well worth it, i'll watch the hurling final tomorrow with it too.

I think you'd have been better with the faltering Deutschsprächen rather than the patronising sh*te served up by the Beeb. "The Republic" - honestly... - isn't Germany one of those too?

Yes but then that's what differentiates us from being just another "Home Country", sure don't they have to keep reminding themselves that we're no longer part of the UK. :D

I'm just delighted the BBC showed it, I was rather baffled when it was not on even on Sky, fingers crossed they will cover the rest of the qualifiers, it has got to pull in more viewers than some of the other carp on Freeview channels!!

I think its a good for Irish people living in England they showed it.How was their coverage tricky colour.
I listened to the BBC commentary rather than Hamilton and Houghton. Defnitely the B team out with Gavin peacock as co-commentator. Ronnie Whelan and Les Ferdinand in studio (watched RTE for thise bits). Commentators didn't annoy me

Coverage was fine, I suspect the Germans supply the video and then and English comentary is added. There didn't seem to be any close up images or replays of major decisions which went against Ireland. Ronnie Whelan and Les
Ferdinand the studio pundits. Dunno who the presenter was.
I suspect the actual pictures were the same as on RTE?

I couldn't believe they didn't show a replay of our best chance, Dunne's header in the last minute. I'm just after watching it a few times and don't know how he didn't hit the target.

The presenter is called Manish Bhasin. He's the presenter of Football Focus. Watched the game on BBC3 myself in an Irish bar in Barcelona. They didn't actually have RTÉ in the bar so we were lucky that it was on in the end. I thought they did a good job all right.
