...for the mindgames to start. Just saw the following quote from the Guardian website - Brilliant!!!

"We know what to expect from British teams, particularly Irish ones" - Paris Saint-Germain manager Guy Lacombe reacts to his club's Euro Vase draw in a way sure to endear him to fans of Derry City.

Haven't the French been trying to convince us for years that we're all Europeans  :D

....I LOVE THE FIVER!

"Elsewhere, Blackeye Rovers will have to improve
on a record of one win in their last 14 Euro ties to get past
Giovanni Trappatoni's Red Bull Salzburg, Newcastle will return to the
Baltic to play Estonia's Levadia Tallinn, the Pope's O'Rangers were
paired with Norwegian's Molde and Paris Saint-Germain's hopes of
progressing took a serious blow when they drew Irish giants Derry
City."

Cheese Eating Surrender Monkies.

Keep it solid in the Brandywell then attack in Paris. After all, they haven't a particularly good record of defending it....

http://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/

BBC News 24 had Derry included in the list of British teamsin the Uefa cup first round. Derry City of Northern Ireland is how they were described. Last time i checked Derry played in the Eircom league of the Republic of Ireland representing the south.

Iv complained, click above to do the same.

Don't mean to be a pedant but under the terms of the Anglo-Irish agreement, we, the republic, gave up our claim to the Northern six counties and, as such, Derry is absolutely British. I'm not saying I agree with this. They are the facts. What league they play in makes no difference. Cardiff play in the English league but they are undoubtedly Welsh.

On a slight tangent, it has been amusing to note that BBC NI and UTV, whatever they call us, have given us infinitely more coverage than any of the Irish channels, or print media. The Scottish media also gave Gretna more coverage than any EL team could ever dream of.

I know its a well trodden topic on here, but our media are absolute sellout f**ks. By all means justify it by "we only print what de people want" but I have to say I'm gradually moving to the conspiracy theorists corner.

I look forward to seeing all those Irish heroes in Stuttgart next week, walking hypocrites that they are......

I'd disagree One Red Army.
A lot of GAA club matches would draw attendances near to eL crowds but wouldn't receive as much coverage.
All things considered i think media coverage of the eL is sufficient.
It's administration that lets the league down.

Obviously the irish media have plenty of excuses not to cover the eL in greater detail but when playing in the Uefa Cup clubs are representing our country.

Attendances are not valid here as just because you get big crowd at amateur level does not mean should be on tv. FFS Atheltics gets feck all crowds here but when those athletes compete abroad it covered by the media.

I was disappointed RTE did not show Derry or Drogs. I am sure had excuse for not showing Derry but Drogs were just down the road in Dalymount.

They spent their entire budget on showing Charlton V Man Utd today.

we didnt give it up strictly in the Anglo-Irish agreement, it was the GFA that god rid of the claim (art 2+3).

the GFA also gives Derry citizens the right to hold an Irish (republic) passport so its nowhere near as clear cut as you like to portray.

as for this being a competition under the rules and laws of UEFA they are the ones to listen to, not you.

the draw on Friday picked out PSG (FRA) and DERRY CITY (IRE) so put that in your 'trying too hard to be objective' pipe.

DC are representing Ireland and therefore must be consdired Irish by all.
are you telling me that Kevin Deery is 'absolutely British'???
