RTE push boat out with domestic coverage
RTE Radio One has announced details of a stunning weekend of coverage, with four successive nights of Sportsnight programmes to chart the progress of Ireland’s top sides in both Uefa Cup and FAI Carlsberg Cup action. Kicking things off on Thursday night is a Uefa Cup special, with commentary from both Dalymount Park and the Brandywell.
In Dublin, Drogheda United will attempt to overturn a 1-0 deficit against IK Start of Norway, while Derry City entertain Gretna before a 2900 sell-out crowd, the vast majority of whom will be eager to witness the Candystripes’ passage to the first round proper – it shouldn’t be too difficult, as they hold a 5-1 lead from the first leg in Motherwell a fortnight ago.
