Limerick FC boss Noel O'Connor today parted company with the club along with assistant manager Aidan Ryan.
The exact reasons for their departure remains unclear. It is expected that the club will release a statement on the issue either tonight or tomorrow.
O'Connor and Ryan took the helm at the eircom League First Division club over 15 months ago, guiding the Shannonsiders to mid-table last season.
Today's bombshell arrives just three days before Limerick meet UCD in the last 16 of the FAI Cup.

I think thats fantastic news.
Hopefully we can get in a decent manager now and build on the team we have. I'd also like to see Finnucane back at the club.
Joe Soap if you could see past your loyalty to Noel you'd realise that this is excellent news for the club. We were heading for another mid table finish if lucky, now we can at least inject a bit of purpose into things.
Best of luck to the new man, I agree, the season begins here!!

Limerick FC owner Danny Drew is expected to issue a statement today after the club parted company with manager Noel O'Connor, and his assistant, Aidan Ryan.
The exact reasons for their departure is unclear. O'Connor says it was by mutual consent.
O'Connor and Ryan took the helm at the eircom League First Division club over 15 months ago and guided the Shannonsiders to a mid-table finish last season.
The Blues started the 2006 campaign with a flourish, rising to the top of the table and also winning the Munster Senior Cup.
However a disastrous series of results in recent weeks have seen the club take just two points from a possible 24 and plummet down the table.
Congrats ?? to the limerick supporters hopefully someone will come in that can get the best out of the players, as they are a good bunch of players who can go places.
Just a thought, but isn't big Pat still circling around limerick these days scouting for players for ye? could be yer next manager?

Pat Dolan will the name most widely rumoured. He wouldn't be a bad choice - we'll have to wait and see.
The new manager takes over a club that is not completely out of the hunt for the title, is still in the FAI Cup (although that may not be applicable next week) and is in the semi-final of the League Cup. Also, there is a strong squad of players for the division.
Fair play to NOC for his efforts. It wasn't to be - he was a good club man and deserves credit for that. I think he just wasn't up to managing at the level.
:ball:
And now for the next episode in the soap opera of Limerick FC. ;)

Fantastic news for the club. NOC is a good coach but as a manager he was shockingly poor (I choose to be diplomatic with my words). His treatment of players was embarrassing at times and should not have been tolerated by the club. For all the good work carried out by the club in the past 15 months it was undermined by having NOC as manager.
Hopefully we will we get a manager that can create a good team spirit, bring back confidence to the players and get them to play football again. We certainly have the players who like to play the ball on the ground rather then just knocking it long.

I'd also like to see Finnucane back at the club.

rumour has it he has signed for a junior team, Fairview.

Once again rumour has it wrong. This rumour fella would want to be careful - he seems to get a lot wrong. :)

If thats true, the very best of luck to him, he deserves every sucess
From a Limerick FC point of view its a shame to have lost such a loyal and consistently good player (not to mention our captain) for no good reason whatsoever. He stuck through the many lows at this club, it would be great to see him back if and when we manage the highs.

Just wondering, who do ye think will take charge of the team for the game this weekend as I cant see a new manager being in place before then.
Anyone any idea? U21 management, One of the senior players or does drew fancy himself as the new Niall Quinn.

If Drew copied Quinn he'd get the same results I'm afraid.
Great news for the club, with Finnucane back and O'Connor gone we have turned a corner! Good luck to NOC in whatever he does, although I'd suggest sticking to coaching in future.
Personally I'd like to see Dolan come on board for rest of the season, I know he's an idiot, but he could be a successful one.

Great news and it's what 99% of the fans wanted. I'm not going to be diplomatic. Noel O'Connor was a sh!t manager who achieved nothing except dressing room disharmony and turning fans away. He MAY be a good coach, based on his time with Cork, but he certainly didn't show it during his stint here. A bad appointment from day one, thanks be to Christ that he's gone :)
Fair play to Danny Drew for wielding the axe, although that's unconfirmed as yet. Anyone find it strange that NOC has had plenty to say to the media about his 'mutual consent' departure, yet Danny Drew has said nothing yet...? DEN, DEN, DEEEEEEN! :D
Interesting to see who ww'll appoint. Keely, Dolan seem to be obvious availibilities. Both could get us out of this graveyard, but in very different ways!

Fini did not sign for any junior team as Limerick FC wouldn't grant him a release, now that NOC is gone he might stay with Limerick, he trained with the squad last night and may travel to watch the cup game on Saturday

I agree, Dolan is a Noel O'Connor man so it'd be a surprise if he was appointed. It'll be interesting to see if he has something to say about it in his newspaper column. If he's interested in the job I'm sure he'll keep his poison pen in his pocket...
If Dolan got the job I don't believe he needs to spend too much money to get us out of the division. We have a decent side, we just need a good manager who can motivate the players and who's good tactically.

Aparantly our U21 assistant manager will take charge of the team while Drew advertises the position in the national papers.
