Former Waterford United player Sylvie Lynch was honoured during the eircom league clash between the Blues and Drogheda United when he was presented with his league winner's medal 37 years after he won the award.

Sylvie, who played underage football with Ferrybank and Crusaders before joining the Blues in the sixties, won his league medal in the 1968/69 season. However, just twelve medals were presented at the time and he was supposed to get his medal later.

He never expected that "later" would take 37 years but he finally received his coveted medal at half time during the game when eircom League Chairman Paddy McCaul made the presentation.

Fair play to him.

By FAI standards that's quite efficient.
