Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves claims to have received an offer to join United (http://www.manutd.com/default.sps?pagegid={B4CEE8FA-9A47-47BC-B069-3F7A2F35DB70}&newsid=355431).
The 25-year-old, who will appear for England against Greece at Old Trafford on Wednesday night, has made no secret of his desire to move to the Premiership.

Read somewhere that the figure was £13m. Good player but the fee proves that the market is still as mad as ever. If I was a manager I'd say he was worth half that at best.

On the contrary, I've seen him several times in the flesh.

nonetheless does that make him worth £13m? Petrov currently going for £6-£7m from Celtic. Heskey went for a similar value?????
I think the point is valid - transfer market is bonkers!!

Yes players are totally over priced, one reason for that - Chelsea !

Yeah, but as one paper pointed out (Can't remember which one exactly). They're paying for the man aswell as the player.
The way he carried himself while being treated like sh!t by his own country. If you read his comments at the height (or trough) of his hatred, they were quality. He more or less shrugged them off with indiference and listed off his vast medal collection. He then had the strength of charachter to turn it around with some industrious, if unspectacular performances.
He's also spent his entire career at one of the biggest clubs in Europe. He's vast experience of champions league football.
All these factors ensure that he's not gonna be a flop in Old Trafford. He may not be the new Keano or Robson. But it's a safe bet he's not gonna be a Neill Webb or Seba Veron.

Bayern about to sign van Bommell. They deny that it is to replace Hargreaves but I reckon they are holding out until the deadline to get as much money out of Man Utd as they can.

The bloke must be absolutely bonkers if he thinks leaving Bayern will better his career. He can either win the league title every year where he is, or be a nobody playing for a club in terminal decline, that even Michael Ballack and Arjen Robben turned down.
If it were you, who would you choose? It's a no-brainer to me.

He's been performing at a consistently high standard for Bayern Munich since 2001.

Still not worth 13m before the world cup ( portugal game) you would have got Hargreaves for less than half that, Hargreaves going for 13m nd u could get a player like Petrov for about 6m (what a joke) id love to see the price of petrov if he had a few england caps.

How do you know? You obviously have never seen him play befoe that. He had more than one brilliant game in the WC. He was MOTM against Greece. And if you perform well in the biggest tournament in the world your value is obviously going to rise a bit.
