If we continue our improvement we should win this 2-0 with a Shane Curran double.

Seriously though, we looked good against Waterford last week so we must be good enough to win.

Athlone Town and Kilkenny City must do it all again, after playing out a 0-0 draw tonight in St. Mel's Park.

This was a pretty poor FAI Cup Second Round game, and neither team deserved to progress to the third round on tonight's performance. Chances were few and far between in the first half, with Kilkenny just about shading it in terms of clear cut chances, but they couldn't keep any of them below Curran's bar.

The second half was a livlier affair, but neither team could break the deadlock. As the game wore on, Athlone had a number of chances, but were just not able to make anything of them. Kilkenny attacked on the counter a few times. They did not do themselves any favours, picking up five yellow cards during the 90 minutes.

So to Buckley Park Kilkenny, next Monday, 29th July 2002 for the replay. The Athlone public must be commended for coming out in big numbers, for what couldn't exactly be described as a glamour tie. Hopefully a big crowd will travel to Kilkenny on Monday evening too. If you are interested in travelling, call 0902 94736 to book your place on the Supporters Club bus.

Missed this game but from the sounds of things, after two 0-0 draws, the sooner Stephen Mullen gets back from the States the better!

Peace,
Ade
