Dear Sir/Madam,
having followed the fall out from the FAI's television deal with Sky from the point of view of an eircom League fan, I read with interest the FAI's latest statement of the 17th of July. This statement is nothing short of a scandal. The FAI has resorted (AGAIN) to attempting to bribe eircom League fans into agreeing with their actions. After years of empty promises from merrion square we have had enough. It is quite obvious from the actions of the FAI that domestic footbal is nowhere near the top of the agenda, that is if it is on it at all. For the FAI to then feign concern about the future of the league they treat like a malevolent little sibling with the sole intention of garnering support for this teleivison deal is pathetic.
I long for the day when the FAI will stop the lying, cover-ups and so forth that is the trademark of their infrequent dealings with domestic football in this country and we can all move forward together with the intention of raising the level of football played in this country.
I won't hold my breath,
yours,
Éanna Buckley
