According to today's Mirror Limerick FC put in a loan move for wantaway Cork star George O'Callaghan last night. We are looking at taking him on loan til the end of the season whilst Cork try to persuade him to stay, but what with this coming on top of O'Callaghan being placed on the transfer list I doubt it will come off. Can't see Cork wanting to keep hold of him for next season with his attitude and can't see the player wanting to drop down to a mid-table first division team sadly

Think Waterford have made a loan offer too.

God what a drop down for a top class player. No offence to Limerick or anything but he could do so much better!

There was something on the radio this morning about Boavista and Zagreb being interested in him.

Its complicated by the closure of the transfer window last night. He cannot sign with another Irish club so he would have to go abroad to play again this season.

How are loan deals affected bythe transfer window? AFAIK they are allowed and players can move on loan. There is no way that Cork will loan him to another premier club. So that leaves division 1 on loan or abroad. :ball:

Was that on Georgie's Deluded Mind FM?

I hear their drivetime programme is entertaining.

Loan deals can occur at anytime of the season as the players main contract remains with the club that the player is loaned from.

I heard that Southend United had made an approach to Cork City to sign O'Callaghan. And this was before he had asked for a transfer request. Don't know how true this is though.

Personally I suspect he'd be more Jamie Nolan/Can't Pass O'Brien than Stephen O'Flynn/Brendan Sweeney anyway. I can't see any way on earth that the Ego would settle for slumming it in the First Division, regardless of who else may or may not be interested.
