Well, we really ran into a juggernaut tonight. This Shelbourne side is the best team I have seen in the past twenty years and there was no shame in losing to them. Excellent football and indeed Rovers tried to play football too and it was a totally different affair to our last 3 nil defeat in the capital. Losing Burnsie was unfortunate but he had to go and then to go 2 down from the free was really too much. Shels were awesome and I would definitely go to see them if I got the chance regardless of who they were playing. Their confidence on the ball, the spaces their runs created and Jason Byrne's finishing was all different class. We stood up and were counted and have no fear, UCD will pay fior this next week. We looked well entitled to be fifth in the table and we will at least remain there.

Shels are a different class, better than any team we have played in the past 5 years at least. They should go on and win this league.
We at least tried to play football and if it werent for the sending off it would have at least remained a contest.
The ref and assistants were shocking.at one stage Harpal, got to the end line, cut the ball back but there was no one there and the keeper pcked it up and got Shels going again. Then the lino puts up his flag for a goal kick, even though the ball was about 2 yards still in play and he was at least 20 yards behind play.
Ref gave alot of soft frees to shels. No excuses though,Shels would still have hammered us reguardless.
Two good song sung last night. As the Shels subs were warming up in front of us "ON the Dole,On the Dole,On the Dole!
And for Harpal Singh "Harpal for Ireland"
Also,Brian Cash looks very good, was well able to hold the ball, run at defenders and get past them with ease.

Yeah. Shels are a classy outfit. The only thing that may stop winning the league is if they run into any more financial problems.
I thought Rovers did well and the sending off and the goal that followed ended it. Cash was excellent when he came on and Singh seems like a good signing. I think Cash has to start against UCD next Friday.

Very disappointed we lost. The scoreline makes them sound like they were top class when really they weren't:(.

agree with everything the stars said. couldn't believe it when the ref whipped out the red card&some of his decisions&the lino's as well were a f*ckin joke. i think faz will have to be dropped for cash or singh

Although Faz has been playing well in the last few games,I think we need something different down that side and Harpal could be the man for the job.
The same applies for Hughes, excellent player but I think Cash would get down the line more and set up Flash and McT with balls coming in from the by line, rather than the long balls from Foy and the balls into feet at teh edge of the box which they cant turn into scoring chances.

Lads, we can't drop Hughes ffs. He's been great all season! Cash has to start against UCD but not at Hughes's expense.

No way could you drop Turner, was one of the better players against Shels.
It will be interesting to see who he drops,if anyone.
Think Faz should be dropped but cant see Sean doing that.

no way should turner or hughes be dropped....faz should be dropped because harpel deserves a chance...might not happen yet...maybe when we have the 3 games in a week it will happen

Flannerys out for most of the season but anyone know when McTiernan is back? He looked fine after the Dublin City game, didn't realise he was gonna be out for this long:(.

How could you drop Hughes? Scored 2 in the last 3 games,he's the target for nearly all of our set pieces as he's so strong in the air and he's a good all round player. Cash on the left maybe? Makes no sense to have him on the bench and Faz starting.

Woah, lads, don't lose the run of yourselves about a guy who came on when the game was over and made a few runs at a defence that had lost interest in the game. Remember, this guy is at the Showgrounds because he couldn't get a game with a team higher in the league. We had the same clamour about Judge when he did a few minutes as a sub in the Showgrounds and we now know that he ain't anything special. Singh for Faz ok, but anyone for Hughes is madness.

Just looked at the highlights on shels website, excellent show and great for anyone who missed the game.Fortunately enough iw as there and must add Shels are a qulaity side and should wrap up the league quite easily. They have a quality 11 but really depth in strength was shown in the bench,Williams,Harris,Moore and Baker not to mention the absent Kearney and O'Neil.Oh ya and the 3 officials made it a bit harder to play 11 against 14.
Anyone not at the game might remember when we played shels in the showgies, the ref was terrible, didnt book a single shels player and was on first name terms with all the shels players.Well guess what it was the same ref Friday night, absolutely terrible.Burns sending off was a disgrace,I'd say he nearly took the lining from his pocket he had the card out that quick and never a straight red, didnt even consult with lino even when he was behind the incident.About time the club did something about this, I mean do you think Shels would allow a Sligo referee ref a game between us and them.Ollie Byrne would be kicking down the FAI's door..So why should we let it constantly happen????
AS for the game itself we have probably played a lot better this season but this is the yardstick in Irish football at the moment. In saying that just looked at highlights and there first 2 goals may not have gone in so easily if O'hara was in the sticks.Cash looked very good when he came on and Singh looks like a run in the side will do him good, but who to drop?
But all in all lets keep the momentum going we owe UCD one and cant see any reason why we cant get the 3 points Friday night...
p.s Quite a few fans remarked on ceratian things we are not allowed do under UEFA license are blatantky allowed in other grounds as in Tolka Friday.
NO segregation what so ever (we even moved inot the shles stand for second half)
Flag poles were allowed in and added to the atmosphere
And one supporters said he left ta half time and got back in again no problem...So why are we straigh jacketed by the license.
Finally went to one of the Shels bars at half time and as samll as itw as it would not ahve been bigger than the old dressing rooms we have ion the showgrounds. Now maybe it woud be an idea to temporarily convert these dressing rooms to a social area for supporters, I mean Sean is looking for €2000 a week and supporters to fork out €100 a week to get this to strengthen the squad to challenge for league positions, this temporary social area/bar would go quite a long way to achieving that between now and the end of the season..........

Alan, let me tell you from experience that the season would be long over by the time a licence would have been granted for that bar.

Dont know much about pub licenses and how they are granted, but what i would see happening(or not) wouod be a present license holder temporraily transfering their lcense on match night for the few hours, similar to what happens at the races.the club would not need to apply for one they would simply facilitators for the premises.
How much it woudl cost etc.. would ned to be worked out between parties..
Just when you see it else where with smaller crowds you get thnking it could happen for us..
