Blackpool have signed Irishman Wesley Hoolahan on a season-long loan from Livingston.

The former Shelbourne player leaves the Almondvale club after joining the West Lothian outfit during the January transfer window.

With Livingston relegated from the Scottish Premier League at the end of last season, the 24-year-old took the opportunity to try his luck in England with a trial at Bloomfield Road.

Hoolahan's performances for The Seasiders this pre-season have earned him the chance to start the new campaign with the League One outfit next month.

The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international joins Marcus Bean, Rhys Evans and Paul Tierney in making the summer switch to the Lancashire club.

A big big step down but I suppose he could get noticed there quicker than in the Scottish First!

He'll get more of a profile and exposure in League 1 than he will in the scottish division 1 or even the Eircom league. Livi obviously want to get some money for him wheather it's now or next season. Smart move on their part
