Signed one new player during the transfer window so far - can't remember his name, or indeed anything about him other than that he was with Newcastle United as a trainee.

Pat Kavanagh missed tonight's game because he was on holidays (entitled to as an amateur) but will be back for Friday. Alan Mahon and Tony Mac arrived a few minutes before kick-off both dripping in sweat, so it seems a safe enough bet that they're building up someway towards full fitness.

Forgot to mention that Mark Clohessy - keeper who played in the League Cup - has left the club.

That or... no, enough innuendo for one evening.

I've come to realise such things are about as relevant as a player having played for Wayside Celtic.

If he's half as skilful as the other heavy left back in the league then I'd be delighted.

Some mention of Mahon looking to take on another one or two (on loan?). Kavanagh and the Robbie Mac clone might be our lot though.

That name rings a bell. Where's he signed from?

Bohs i presume ! very good signing for the club, we had the chance to get him on a free just before he signed for Bohs, Devo turned the offer down.

he is a very good player quick nd full of tricks great signing for ucd i think he was used on the wing mostly for bohs though

Is he the lad Bohs signed from Pat's? I think he was Pat's top scorer a couple of years back or something?

Edit: O'Keefe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aiden_O'Keefe_(footballer)) answers my question and indeed he was. Sounds like a promising signing. Nice to know we're active in the market. With Paul Byrne and Tony Mac to come back from injury and Brophy pushing though, it's looking promising.

Just reading this thread started by Pineapple about O'Keefe on the Bohs forum. They seem to speak positively enough about him. Left wing looks to be his best position.

O Keefe was a decent player for Pats best used with a bigger striker , odd that Bohs let him go. Were after him for a while unless they making room for someone.....

I assume this is one of the two deals Pete Mahon mentioned in the Drogheda programme.

He was a year behind me school (primary, secondary and college actually...always seemed to follow me but I don't think he was stalking me).

Had an insane scoring record as a schoolboy and made a decent step up to el level. I was surprised to hear us sign him because though he is quite good he isn't filling the role we need most up front: a target man.

I'm sure he'll do a job but not the one for which we have a more pressing need.

At least it will give us another option on the left as we are short of natural left footed players.

I wouldn't mind seeing Micko back to help bolster the squad and the left side. He's got no club now.

Really? When did CHF release him?

I'd take him back for sure.

sorry to inform you guys but the O' Keefe deal has fallen through due to a bohs player getting injured in training this morning therefore bohs recalled him from loan before he even came!! so im told anyway.
but it was a done deal beforehand

Well as Dublin City are gone ( sorry to their fans but it begs the question whose next?) so their contracts revert to the FAI/EL which means they can be signed up by other clubs. In some leagues they don't allow you to sign more than two players from a defunct club. Not sure what the rules are in the EL, anyone know?

O'Keeffe scored four tonight for Bohs in a friendly against a Phoenix XI (presumably quickly thrown together after DC's withdrawal)

Paul Shiels was yer man from that club in the North East of England. And he's already left for Glenavon.

Just found out tonite that you have signed a very talented young man from us. Ger O'Callaghan, young Clones lad with alot of skill. Played for the Republic of Ireland Schoolboys recently and was central part of our U21's and made quite a few first team appearances last year but less so this year due to Leaving Cert committments.

Gutted he has left us but delighted for him and hope his studies go well too.

Good luck Ger!

Why do you have it in for Quinn so much? I hardly remember him ever figuring. I only remember him giving a decent display against Kilkenny in preseason.

Thanks for the news, Magicme.

Last minute v Bohs at Dalymount- remember?

No offence to Monaghan but if you couldn't get your game for the worst team in the league you must be terrible.

Hardly enough to villify the poor lad over.

Sounds like we've snapped up a promising young talent who hasn't had the chance to break through yet by the sounds of things.

From Monaghan website:

Profile: Ger O'Callaghan, #0
This Clones youngster won many fans last season for his tenacity and determination coupled with his excellent skills. The Largy College student has brought his footballing skills to the International scene when he played with the Republic of Ireland Schools. Has arouised interest from scouts of Scottish Club Falkirk.

Ger was a feature of the first team but had to take a back seat a little due to his exam presssure and then the team started to get better results in the last few weeks so he hadnt been included as am sure Mr Cooke saw no reason to change things.

Would if been great if that O'Keefe deal didn't fall through. Hat-trick last night and has scored a couple more since move collapsed.
