The draw for the second round of the 2002 FAI Carlsberg Cup will take place on Monday 15th July at Citywest Hotel Saggart, Co Dublin @ 6:30pm.

The 22 eircom League clubs will be joined by the 10 sucessful junior and intermediate clubs from the first round in the draw.

"The timing of this competition is unwelcome as far as we are concerned" said intermediate king pins Cherry Orchard manager Paul O'Brien.

"We have only just finished our season having won the Leinster Senior League a few weeks back and the players have not had a chance to really recover yet," he added.

"That said, it is the Blue Ribband and we'll give it our all to progress as far as we can, finished O'Brien.

The first round takes place this Sunday July 14th with the following ties down for decision.

Greystones v College Corinthians
CYM Terenure v CIE Ranch

1ST ROUND DRAW
Rockmount v St Michael's
Workmans Dunleary v Glenmore Dundrum

Ballincollig v Leeds
Fairview Rangers v Peake Villa

Is that possibly up to 6 Cork teams in the 1st round?

Seems to be an increase on recent years?

not much news on the FAI site about this seasons FAI Cup - isit being kept a secret?

Still, in keeping with last season the 1st round is ignored until the 2nd round draw is made and there's the usual talk about 'giantkillers' and 'landlords against tenants'.

If you do go to Citywest however there is always the chance of appearing on 6.1 and pretending to be connected to any of the clubs represented.
