he was suspended for the first game of the season..although my sources tell me he was seen 'wandering' around dalyer at the bohs V ucd game :)
I wonder if, on his return to the cross, Derek will get a Davey Hill type reception or an evil Ollie type reception.;)
Every player who leaves City has to get the "Judas"! That's the way it is...!
James

might i suggest a reception somewhat inbetween
dont think he'll get quite the evil ollie one
but definately not the davey hill one
dont think there are many players out there as loved as davey and we all know davey was pushed out of the club and really didnt want to leave cork..
Whatever the rights or wrongs of, bhut Derek been trying to leave city for at least a season.
I suggest a minor ripple of appluase before the start of the match & the standard judas treatment during the match...?
I didn't notice but Ollie Ca$hi££ get any kind of reception before the start of the match?
;)
He wont get anything as bad as evil Ollie but he is bound to get a fair bit of stick especially as he left of his own free will.
Before the match the $hels fans were singing theres only one Ollie Cahill and there was a pretty loud boo from the shed.
he deserves worse than Ollie!!! he did exactly the same and he is actually a Corkman!
die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
maybe derek might play tru to form and give away a few soft goals to us. god knows he gave away a fair few when he played with us. the guy was pretty awful a lot of the time
btw what is with all this der "walked out on us stuff", last week according to the anti-murphy clones he was "pushed" and the goons were vilifying Murphy for it. now the clones blame coughlan for deserting city. What's it to be guys?- walked or pushed?

Not all anti Murphy "clones" think that, he's wanted to go for some time whatever the reason he still wanted to go..... wheather he had a scrap with Gunther or not Gunther made a choice, what gets me is these people all left for FREE!!!
I'm anti Murphy but doesn't stop me loving CCFC any less - or wishing him well.
Never mind that I still don't like Murphy as a manager, but as Manager he still should have total control of his team and all that goes on, he made a mess of Ollie and Derek leaving the club why 'cause he didn't get money for them. Don't care why they wanted to leave but the fact remains they wanted to leave, bad choice in not selling them.
Its the same as the RK and MMC row no matter what you think of any of them the Manager makes the decision about the player.
i think derek had made his mind up a while back. hopefully we will hammer him like he has been hammered when he played with us

Surely it would be the boards fault for not giving them what the other clubs were offering. If David Beckham didnt sign that contract before the WC would it be Alex Ferguson's fault if he went to Milan on a Bosman? No it would have been Kenyon's fault. The blame for Ollie and Dereck leaving lies with the former board.
The difference between Ollie and Dereck's departure?
a) Ollie "I could never play for another club in Ireland against Cork"
Dereck 'woops I forgot my regrestration in England'
b) Ollie -> $hels
Dereck -> Bohs
c) Ollie left when we had no cover for him
Dereck left when we had Deccie, Napeir, the lad whos gone to the US who's name I cant remember for the life of me!, Andrews, gaz on his way back, Lordan knocking on the door.
d) Everyone hates Shels and everyone conected with that club (especially the ones called Ollie)
hahaha :)
excellent troy nice one
not going to win anything now are yea judas ollie
also how bout when ollie while still playing for city slammed city fans and the shed in paticular over the 451 glen crowe thing last year where we were all holding up the glen crowe pics..
glen himself saw it as a joke
but not our dearly beloved and now departed olli€
he slamed city fans as being disgraceful..
cheerio judas :)
we've got billy back anyways .. who needs ollie

They didn't sign new contract 12 months ago, should of sold them to someone the boy scouts of Ireland if they were to pay, yes the board would be the sellers but if they hadn't signed... sell them, it's not like any of us expected to be top 5 last year. Murphy could of pushed the issue he was after all building a team. If he didn't have the future support of the players then he should of made money on them. well then Yes it is his responsibility to ensure they we put them to some use....... it's not like he has never made a player leave before now is it.
they walked because they were given a chance to see out their contracts why????
as i say der is no loss. strong in the air, great heart and 100% committed and he did score that goal in 1998 but the guy could be a liability.
Anyway he will probably be back next year anyway.
as for ollie best of luck to him he's a shels man now and jez did he have a nightmare on friday. it's great to see how the crowd could claim nearly 100% credit for putting him off his game:D

It's a pity it's such a short season, if it were like normal Ollie would have to return to the cross again, I'd say he'd sh*t himself
yeah I reckon you are right. the guy looked as if he had a serious dose of trots he looked so bad. naybe brian L gave him last years batch of potato pies as a welcome back gesture.
still though I will be following his shels career with interest:D
Its too easy to say the club should just sell those players in the last 12 months of their contracts as its not as if these players worth millions.....
Ollie or Derek would have been sold for feck all & probably were of more value keeping for the last year. Imagine where we would have finished without them last year....

I do take your point but we didn't exactly light up the skies last year now did we
Well during season 00-01 and beginning of 01-02 most boards were saying that the two were poor and not up to much and should be dropped if their heart wasn't in it etc etc I think they should of been sold, Billy was a target for the past 12-18 months so it's not like CCFC hadn't planned for a replacement, and 50,000 is a fair bit for any El club and both would of achieved that amount with 12 months to go, allot more if it was 2 years ago. If the intention was there to keep them they would of been loaned out..... When Murphy came in they didn't commit......
we were sh*t last year, with or without them we were sh*t.
We finished nowhere and they walked for free------ either would have commanded a good fee from any of the Dublin clubs. And if they were that impressive they'd be with Leicester.
Wasn't there on Friday so I don't know exactly what type of reception that Ollie got, but both players did their best for the club at the time.
I think the applause before hand and then the "banter" is the best way to go meself.
Derek was solid at the back, but the team do know his weakness. All they need to do is to keep it on the ground and get people to run at him cause he can't run for beer!

I agree, i'm sure the way things went at the club last year convinced both players to make the break away while still had a chance.
Derek crap on the ground but is a colosus in the air. Was funny to see Pats hoof the ball forward last year at Inchicore only for Derek to get his head in the way each time. Dolans tactics were woeful in the 3-1 city win.

The poor guy did not have a good game last night either...though he's not a bad defender at times...
I think a lot of City fans should have a good think about the recepiton we give fromer players. Morley (remember our leading goalscorer of alltime) was treated appallingly even after he rejoined, but when he played for Shels his family were insulted at and around City games. Pat was at the peak of his career and City weren't paying him wages that he was owed - but some of the boys in the shed reckon he was some kind of traitor for wanting to get payed ANY money - not just more. Ollie wants to have a go at a fulltime club and let him off...the real problem is that the club has been so badly run that ambitious players were never given the indication that the club was going anywhere.
1) It's up to Lennox now to keep the great crowd from last week and get the quids in to pay decent wages
2) It's up to Gunther to have proper professional training - remember that Dave Barry's sessions were five-a-sides without nets where they never practised corners
3) Us to get behind the team AND manager

We dont abuse all our former players, it all depends on their reason for leaving- Davey Hill and Gaz Cronin got good receptions on their return but evil Ollie didnt because he left for the money.
Its the same throughout the game of football- Luis Figo and Sol Campbell got the Judas treatment from their former fans because they left for money, while Denis Wise got a great reception from the Chelsea fans on his return because he didnt.

there, that sounds better. :D
As for Ollie, I think he knew what kind of reception he'd get. I agree the Skippy thing went way overboard, but only the most blinkered wouldn't accept that. the reception Ollie got was part and parcel of football and I'm sure he'd have been upset if he hadn't heard anything.

I heard Ollie was abused after the game outside the Horseshoe. His parents, sister and girlfriend were also present. This is ridiculous behaviour. Leave the abuse for the pitch where it belongs.
As for Derek, from what I heard he had no choice but to go, as Liam had no more use for him.So I don't think he deserves a bad time.

.
I am sure it was only a minority (3-4) idiots involved. besides what starts among the fans is bound to carry over outside so everyone bears responibility there. i didn't bother saying anything anti-ollie. if truth be told it struck me as being as being a bit moronic.
if you want to follow the herd become a sheep;)

Thats ridiculous, if anyone is identified as having done that, they should be banned from the cross. As for Derek, he deserves rakes of abuse- he's been trying to leave since he got here, I was still p!ssed off with him for that ridiculous Luton incident last year when I heard he'd moved to dumplin.

LOL! :D Not even then! After all I've said about the guy, it'd be totally hypocritical of me to ever support him, and I hate hypocrites.

thats a good attitude to have really....i dont think any of us like the man but if things keep going well, we can just concentrate on being positive and supporting the team.
But if not then off with his head!
