I was the victim of a freak BBQing accident last weekend that resulted in a deep puncture wound to my left hand. This required a trip to the A&E where I was in and out in 50 minutes and fine treatment I recieved there too. They only had to put one stitch in the wound which was deeper than long.

Now my wound is well healed -unlike the rest of me - so I'm rather reluctant to hand over 40 bucks to my GP to take out a single sutre when I've already left A&E 60 quid lighter.

It looks straightforward enough,
sterilised nail scissors -Check;
savlon spray -Check;
tweezers - Check ....

Any one here ever done similar.

BTW it's an actual non-disolving sutre as oppesed to a staple.

I can see your point and it's a bit of a dilemma but for the sake of €40 I'd get the Doc to do it. If it gets infected after he does you can sue him ;) , if it gets infected after you do it you could lose a hand :eek: :D

I got two stitches in my hand in 2002, 10 days before leaving for Japan and the World Cup. I removed them myself, whilst over there, with scissors (sterilised by boiling) and some savlon cream. Was no big drama really (but don't go trying it at home kids:D )

Do it man ... one stitch no sweat .... if it were 8-9 i'd say something. Go for it !!

Stitch came out no bother whatsoever. Thanks for your advice, encouragment and morbid curiosity.:D
