Seems like a pointless rule as being broken everywhere.

I think Villa got done for approaching Beattie before. And Chelsea over the Ashley Cole saga.

Illegal Approaches, player tapping, and poaching goes on in football at all levels from Under 10's right the way up. Football Associations the world over bottle out of dealing with it effectively.

In fairness, the circus that is Barca and Real presidential elections is the most blatant disregard of rules ever.
Public declarations of tapping up are commonplace.

just finished Robbie Fowlers book and there is an interesting few paragraphs about how Liverpool via Gary McAlistair tried to tap up Robbie Keane (Keano and Gary knew other from Coventry). The funny bit is that Gary Mc mistakingly sent a text to Robbie Fowler instead of Keano saying "have you made your mind up yet, I need to let the gaffer know if you are coming". Basically Fowler said it happens all the time and the most fertile time is during international gameswhen a player from one club will sound out a potentail purchase.

:) fair comment. However I did say a FEW. Actually its not a bad read, no way near top of this genre but readable.

When did you get capitals in your username then? I much preferred it without - fun was had in PP Towers trying to figure out how the hell to say "dmandmythdledge" - and now the mystery is gone... :D

Real candidate said that as he wasn't officially the spokesperson of the club at the time it doesn't count. And he would never do that as president!
Technically he's correct that it didn't count however... old habits die hard, so watch this space!
