The Rules Compliance Commission of the Football Association of Ireland yesterday imposed a fine of €3,000.00 and the suspension from the Technical Area as Manager for four (4) matches in domestic competitions on Mr Damien Richardson, Manager of Cork City F.C, for misconduct following an FAI Carlsberg Cup game, arising from comments which were critical of an eircom League referee and the Football Association of Ireland and which were published in the media.
The comments were made after an FAI Carlsberg Cup tie between Longford Town and Cork City F.C. In light of Mr Richardson’s good character and apology to the referee in question and the FAI the three members of the Rules Compliance Commission, chosen from an independent panel, reduced the fine from €5,000.00 to €3,000.00 and suspension from the Technical area as Manager from six (6) games to four. This suspension will come into effect from Monday 10th July.
The Football Association of Ireland wishes to express their disappointment at the comments made by Mr Richardson, however they have accepted Mr Richardson’s unreserved apology to both the Association and the eircom League referee.
Mr Richardson does have the right to appeal this decision.

No need to obey the ban - remember last years precedent?

Not exactly what Cork need when they have a big old tax bill to sort out...

But in fairness Richardson's comments were way out of line and had to be severely dealt with.

Seem to remember in the immediate post-rant period that he swore he wouldn't back down or apologise to either the Association or the official involved....nice to see him seeing sense, or more like Lennox made him apologise to reduce the fine, seeing as its unlikely it will be coming out of his own pocket.

Is this a real fine and ban or a Fenlon style, fine and ban?

This must be how the new eL prize money is to be funded.

Will Dublin City (official website comments) & Keely (commenst to the media) also be fined?

Did Shels ever pay their fine for the Setanta Cup or as suspected was this swept under the carpet when no one noticed in May?

How many times did Fenlon break his touchline ban last year? I think it was 3 times at last count. Did the eL ever increase his ban?

Shels were fined in think 3000 for not making manager available for post match interview. It was suspended until further review in May because youse moaned about it so much in the media.

Do you suffer from short term memory lose Pete or are you just trying to increase your 'lets spread lies about shels' post count

Fenlon did not break his touchline ban three times!!!
When it was first pointed out that he broke the ban it was pointed out that the wording of the ban was wrong and he was perfectly within his rights in what he did.
The wording of the ban was later changed to clear the issue up.

When Fenlon then broke the reworded ban he was issued with another increased ban, he missed the last 4 games of the season as a result.

As for your Setanta fine
Shels found out about the fine when Setanta released it to the media. There was no warning and as it happended the rules that shels were supposed to have broke were not covered by the Setanta Disiplinary Committee. When it was pointed out to them they withdrew the fine as they realised they were in the wrong...

Can you get a ban for posting nonsense over and over and over.
It must be in the 100's now for the amount of posts you have with lies regarding Shels.

and seen as its a Rico thread. Pat was fined for his behaviour last year! nobody is against you

The ban is issued along with everyone elses ban!

The wording was wrong and Nutsy took advantage of it. When the FAI/EL or whoever the feck does the thing out realised they changed the wording to close the loophole.

This small point seems to have slipped from Petes mind!
Not for the first time and probably not for the last time. It comes round every few months...

To be honest i think you lot forgot to mention it when it was all going on ... its the first i heard of it anyway.

I'd say the club will be sure to read the ban properly though ;)

The words perfectly stated that he wasn't allowed near the dressing room or the pitch, but he still waddled across the Dalymount pitch in full view of everyone!

Yes 100, it comes after 99, before 101. Nice even number!

Measured by the fact that he wasn't cursing or going on about riding!

Exactly. I was there and I saw Fenlon walk across the pitch into the dressing room area immeadiately after the match. In fact he had the gaul to ask the stewards to move fans away from the area. Just because the eL give in too easily to Shels moaning does not make it correct.

Setanta invested big money in the Setanta Cup & only asked that managers be made available to do interviews for their post match show - Fenlon was too narrow mided to see this & Shels kicked up another fuss.

Next the eL will have to make a list of the means of communication that shels managers not allowed use when banned from the touchline - mobile phones, walkie talkies, carrier pidgeon

I thought you may have had the decency to admit you were in the wrong but you add to it :)

Here is an example of the latest wording,

Roddy Collins (Manager, Shamrock Rovers) suspended for TWO (2) competitive matches, fined €500 and warned as to his future conduct as a result of being removed from the technical area by the referee v Derry City (23.09.05). For this two match suspension, Mr Collins is to remain at least 50 metres away from the dressing room, technical area and pitch for at least two hours before the matches as well as during the matches and for one hour after the matches.

The last part "and for one hour after the matches" was added on due to the loophole in the previous wording that Fenlon used to enter the dressing room after the game.
He was not punished for this as he broke no rule.

When he did break his ban near the end of season he received a further lot of games….

Pete you said 3 time ???
Who's hole did you pull that one out of ?

Did Setanta come out and say shels were fined due to Pat Fenlon not giving post match interviews Pete ??

Can you back something up please

Your WRONG!

Why the need for the changing of the wording if it was perfectly clear ???
