I think the attendence figures will increase the longer run we get in this inter to to ... you can only beat what is in front of you and Shels certainly did that last night. The next round will be more meaningful but if its a Djurgardens side in terms of ability were in with a shout.

Well there is only a possibility of 2 home games to look forward in this comp. The game against Odense there will be a crowd of 2,200 - 2,800. If we get Hibs then that will be a full house. I don't know what to expect from this lot next Saturday but hopefully there lack of preparation will pave our way to Edinburgh!

i cant see us turning over hibs though...if we do it will be a major step up for us.

It depends. On their day, they're better than Shels, but they're out of season. Vetra put them out of the Inter Toto last season. No guarantee they'll even reach the final.

They are already in it, there are only 3 rounds this season and that is when Hibs come in. In other words Shels are in the Semis of a European Competition  :D ;)

Here's the draw. Look at the 2nd round, match K. Hibs will be playing Dinaburg from Latvia in the semis.

Not true, Hibs have to play a Lativan team or a Faroe Islands team first before going on to meet the winners of our game.

You would think the Lativan team would be stronger, but the first game in Lativa finished 1-1 with the second leg on today I believe.

Whoops just saw the Latvian team won 1-0 so scrap everything that I said above. Still though if they can only beat a team from the Faroes 2-1 on agg they can't be up to much.

I also see that some Finnish crowd hammered Carmarthen 8-1 on agg. Thank god it is Drogheda and not Longford going to Helsinki

Oh right, apologies for my ignorance, I thought they went straight into the third round :ball: :)

Odense only started pre-season on Wednesday or something, so perhaps we can do a job over there. Having them away first is certainly a big help.

Last night, well. Where to start? What a spectacle! Their discipline was insane, absolutely insane! The first red card after 3 minutes was when Crowe broke free and was literally wrestled to the ground by the recovering last man just outside the box! They must have got about 10 card in all, most of them for very bad tackles. Jumping recklessly into mad challenges, lunging all over the place. There were several tackles that were very lucky no player was on the end of, jumping two footed from miles away at them - however, watching Boddy Dazzler dancing past them was great craic! ;)

As for the Shelbourne performance, unconvincing to be honest. Could, nay should, have been many many more goals. To be honest, it was like watching Arsenal sometimes - dancing with the ball around the box, but the final ball in wasn't great, or just taking to long to build up and losing momentum. It was a training exercise more than anything, even saw Alan Reynolds having a pop from 25/30 yards! Most players were just out there having fun, which was good to see, but will need to up it a gear against Odense! Well, I'm smiling about it all anyways! :D

Yeah the crowd could have been no more than 1300, probably less.

Game was shocking in terms of good football but was very enjoyable with all the goals and cards and the win of course.

Well the team fly to Denmark on the Thursday so unless you want to follow over and play it then I would think its safe enough to say its off.

Tell you what - I'll personally pay for the City team to fly over to play you in Denmark on Friday, if your first team will play us. Deal......?

Well done Shels - good luck against Odense.

Good luck in the next round to Shels - they have a real chance of making it through to the UEFA cup. considering they could have been playing Odense for the right to play Villareal or Newcastle, Hibs doesn't look like a bad draw really. Would be great to get another team into coefficient country.

True. Shels v Hibs would be a very interesting tie, not least from the point of view of all those threads saying the eL is a similar standard to the SPL minus the top couple of teams...

well done to Shels. Good luck to them in the next round.
Re the Attendance, was the match advertised for our local Lithuainian Community?

Drumcondra Red

personally I didn't notice any advertising for it, unless there was some when we were in Lithuania, but thats doubtful, there were a couple of people, maybe 4-5 in the pub after from our Lithuanian community...
