Superhoops,

el Punter made a rule stating fans from other clubs are only to second candidates

Monzo, I assume EP's message below is the one to which you refer.

We'd better make a rule to stop the petitioning for 'favourite' players rather than legends. Any player nominated has to be seconded by a few other posters who are not supporters of the club the player is most associated with.

Thanks for the nominations, keep them coming, and give the thumbs up to those of fellow posters who warrant it.

If that is the case, I cannot see where it says that fans from other clubs cannot nominate players from other clubs. What I can see is the requirement that any player nominated has to be seconded by a few other posters who are not supporters of the club is most associated with.

None of the players in my list were associated with BW. Some of them had already been nominated, in which case, consider my support to be seconding the nomination. If they have not been previously nominated, consider my support to be a nomination.

Crack on with it so Harpskid, I'm not exactly getting swamped with volunteers to write pieces at this stage :)

Ah don't fall out over it lads. The rules aren't set in stone, I'm just saying to use a bit of cop so we don't get a plethora of sycophants demanding some fans' favourite gets in on popularity rather than something of more substance.

Nominate whoever you want, I'm just looking for some unbiased seconding of the nominations.

Maybe a hall of misfits could be in order, people are always in interested in tales of squandered talent, injury stricken starlets etc.

as a town fan my nomination would be pat "zac" hackett. a legend with us he palyed with us nearly 20 years played in the leinster senior league days and league of ireland. brought us to the fai cup semi in 1988 player-manager in the late 80s and early 90s.

a legend with the club still involved in longford youth soccer. played with athlone town in the top flight for a season.

I was amazed that Arthur Fitzsimons was added to the Ireland Hall of Fame at the recent Chile match and in the programme it never even mentioned that first and foremost he was a Shelbourne player and grew up in their homeland!!I am told by my Dad,who was a friend of his that he was a gem of a player

Does anyone remember the great Paddy Roberts??Not to too mention Billy Newman who was capped while playing for Shels at a time few League players were?
I have to agree on the great Frank O,Neil,on one week we hated him as he tormented Shels fullbacks and the next week we'd be blown away by his speed and skill as he slaughtered the best in Europe for Ireland.
