i've been living in the states for a few years and i'm thinking about moving home or maybe to england,has anybody any idea of what the hourly electrician rate is these days?

Average for a qualifed sparks in Ireland is 20 euro an hour if employed by a contractor but many pay above this for good tradesmen.

Anything less and as a craftsman you are being ripped off by the employer.

Electrician rates for directly employed governed by legally binding Registered Agreement as above around 20 an hour for a tradesman 6 years out of time. There are however big problems with the enforcement of these rates outside the main cities and on smaller projects. You'd be better off going self employed after a while as the rates you get that way are more tax efficient.
