Was going to add this to the "Spurs/Arsenal Champions League Spot" thread but its locked:

From the BBC

Fifa has launched an investigation into whether Arsenal have broken regulations which could leave the club exposed to serious penalties - even expulsion from the Champions League.

Newsnight has learnt that a police investigation in Belgium has concluded that Arsenal made secret payments of £1m to a Belgian football club.
See more below.

Belgian clubs come cheap, £1m for an 80% share and then the prize assets are sold off.
Fifa would have a hard time to attempt to establish that Arsenal exercised indirect/direct control in the complete absence of any obvious evidence. I would be curious to see how the interest free loans are accounted for in Arsenals books and if the loans were repaid out of the transfer profits.

Very interesting although no idea what the sanctions would be..

Why did Arsenal give them the "loan"?
Why was it done through middle men?
What football or legal laws were broken...?
