I suggested this a couple years ago when blogs were just starting out, but everybody looked at me like I had two heads. Now they're a bit more mainstream, I assume a few of you will know what a blog is, and so might consider being an author.

Reiteoir has already volunteered, however I want to keep this as self-sufficient as possible, which means more people and less updates, so I'm looking for a few more. I reckon a lower limit of one post a month is fair, with an average frequency of one a week. But the more the merrier.

You need to be a Foot.ie regular to get posting rights at the outset. Post below you're seriously interested. If you're not sure, take a day or two to think about it.

Adam,

Is Brian de Salvo a member of foot.ie?

I would love to see the script of his weekly column for RTE radio posted as a blog.

He is one of the best football writers I have heard.

Would probably be interested. Are you looking for a news type thing or just general nlog

dahamsta

Basically informal news and commentary on the eL and the Irish team. It'll be set up as a single-category multi-user blog at the outset, with WordPress as the platform. It won't be linked directly to vBulletin, and comments will be moderated. So I'll need bloggers, an editor and a comments manager; however bloggers are the important requirement now, I can handle editorial at the outset.

The good folks at Walk The Chalk are truly flattered by you following our lead in to the world of blogging on Irish football! :)

However, the pitch is big enough for everyone, and I'd be happy to help out however I can.

Who are you kidding, you post here more than anybody else and do all the avatar stuff, you'll be involved...

If you're looking for a contributor from each club, I'd do it. I presume it's an informal (but not libelous) account of away day travel, 'behind the scenes' stories and funny incidents. I go to virtually every Blues' game home and away (haven't missed one yet this season anyway) and every Ireland home game. Let me knowif it goes ahead. Could be interesting.

I'm not specifically looking for a contributor from each club, but I'm happy to take some on board. What I really need from volunteers is a committment of at least one post a month, more if possible.

My target is an update frequency of at least one post a day, I don't think it's worth it unless we can hit that. Obviously football is naturally grouped around the weekend, but that can be catered for, by releasing op-ed stuff during the week.

So that's another thing I'm looking for: a mix of up-to-the-minute news, and well thought-out opinion and editorial.

Sounds Great. I'd love to do a kind of "you wouldn't beleive what happened at/on the way to the game last night kind of thing......"

Not being funny, and not aimed at anyboody who has/hasn't posted on this thread but are you going to be picky about who you allow post adam or just allow anybody who wants to?

(Realise this sounds crappy and honestly don't mean to offend but, I just think some people are idiots and don't deserve any new platforms. And yeah i know loads think that way about me. Good for them...)

What is the story with being allowed write on it is a very good question, would it be split into sections or just one big post???

In a nutshell though, blog posts will go through an editor.

Hey Adam,

Haven't been on in a few days so only seeing this now. I struggle writing on my own blog on a regular basis but would be more than happy to do an odd one for the foot.ie one if you ever need it. :)

Best of luck, looking foward to having a read of it :)

Be happy to do something in the 'other sports' type category as I go to a lot of rugby and GAA games as well as EL, and travel a bit with the job so see a fair few premiership games thru the season as well...

Thanks for all the offers lads, more the merrier. Lasses too! :)

I don't like any of the blogs that can be integrated with vB so I'm going to do a standalone WordPress install, with as best integration as I can manage with vB. I'm still tearing this week, so I'll get to it next week. If I don't reappear with an update by the middle of the week, feel free to bump this and give out to me. :)

I don't have time to style it yet, but I said I'd better get off my arse and do something, so here we go (http://foot.ie/blog/). If you're interested in contributing, please register here (http://foot.ie/blog/wp-register.php) with your Foot.ie handle and PM me, and I'll promote you to Contributor; I'll look at promotions to Author and Editor later. Comments will be open, but moderated. I'll leave categories for the moment, we'll see how we get on.

Get writing!

Anyone's welcome to post. Whether I publish or not is another matter entirely, but as long as it isn't a troll or blatantly libellous, I don't see a problem. All opinions welcome, as long as I agree with them. ;)

(That was a joke. Sad that I need to point this out, but I know better at this stage.)

Thanks joema. I need to skin the blog with a Foot.ie style, then I'll add it to the navbar permanently. Trick is deciding what to take out of the navbar to make room. Last time I took the New Posts link out, and I was damn near skinned alive. :D
