Czech Republic's Pavel Nedved has spoken of his desire to play in Euro 2008.

The midfielder, who will be nearly 36-years-old by the time the Austrian-Swiss tournament comes around, has shocked many by his recent admission.

He revealed that he had spoken to Czech coach Karel Bruckner and said it would all depend on a number of circumstances.

He commented: "Who knows if they want me to stay in the national team. Very important will be if coach Bruckner remains with the team. And most probably it will also depend on my performances in Germany."

In the qualifiers for Euro 2008, Czech Republic are in Group D and are pitted alongside the likes of Republic of Ireland, Wales, Cyprus and San Marino, all competitors that Nedved thought to be engaging.

Nedved commented: "The opponents in our group are very interesting, it is no big travelling. I would play against teams which I have had not many chances to play against. Simply it lures me much."

Nedved is set make his first World Cup finals appearance when Czech Republic take on the United States in Gelsenkirchen on June 12.

There was a thread about the Czech squad on here but it was moved to the World cup forum. A lot of their players are getting on a bit. Nedved (34), Poborsky (34), Koller (33), Lokvenc (33), Smicer (33) and Galasek (33).
