How come North Leinster is called that when most of the teams are from Ulster and only 2 from Leinster?????

That would be an ecumenical matter. ;)

It's presumably history. Besides, who wants to play in the "North Leinster and Sligo and some bits of Ulster that isn't Northern Ireland (except for Derry) Division"?

Awesome. Who doesn't love a good conference-based system? Will there be any interleague play:confused:

Only at the knock out stages, 4 teams will qualify from each group and go into a last 16 knockout round.

The Leinster Division is far the toughest and hardest to qualify from. I'd go for St. Pats, UCD, Shels and Bray. Derry City, Drogheda United, Finn Harps and Sligo Rovers from the NLD. Galway United, Athlone Town, Salthill Devon and Longford Town from the MWD and Cork City, Kerry League, Limerick and Lifford FC (Clare) from the MD.

Just noticed that Garda have dropped out of the U21 set up, anyone know why ?

very good!

On the assumption that league sides will be stronger than non-league sides then there does appear to be an imbalance between the various pools. Only one premier side in the Mid-West (Longford, who were quite weak last year iirc) versus 6 in Leinster.

Garda have since entered a team.

For whatever corrupt reason, Kildare County, an ever present member of the Leinster League have been pushed out to the Mid West League to make way for Garda. Its also got to be mentioned that Crumlin Utd ( another Dublin side) have been pushed ahead of an existing member.

Maybe its to do with the setups that Garda and Crumlin have? An easy out taken by the League. Keep the Dublin clubs sweet!

They are of course safe in the knowledge that Kildare County have to accept this 'couse if they pull out they will automatically lose their Eircom League status. The UEFA Licensing requirements are that a club has to have an U21 team.

Maybe Ricco was right after all !!!

Harps beat Limerick 3-0 and Cork won 3-1 against Dublin City.

I heard Cork will have home advantage in the final so its going to be a very long trip for the young Harps.

As indeed it was! :D 6-0 to UCD - amazing result. That's our qualification secured already!

Going to keep track of the Dublin league in the UCD forum (http://foot.ie/showthread.php?t=36569) - obviously UCD focus, but with all results and updated league tables.

Team was

McInerney, Fagan, Pearson, Foley, Moore, Caffrey, Rooney, Haverty, Maguire, Roche, Fitzpatrick. Sub: Foran (for Haverty, 48 mins)

Only foley/Caffo/Roche & Fitzpatrick anyway involved in 1st team
rest of the team were recently signed or play for the u17/18s

Good few injuries/holidays which meant only 1 sub on bench as well accoding to report on official site.

By some strange manipulating of the geography of the country Kildare County find themselves in the Mid-Western section of this season’s Dr Tony O’Neill under 21 League, necessitating away trips to places such as Galway, Salthill, The Mayo League, Ballinasloe, Longford Town, Mullingar Athletic and Athlone Town. The Club was originally placed in the far more realistic Dublin Section and as a result of the move to the Mid-West section lost a number of young players, who could not commit to the travelling involved.

Anybody know why? Or see any sense in the move?

Aertel are actually doing a vaguely decent job of updating results this season. To get a league table, though, you have to add the results together.

Heard that Shels withdrew when I was down in Bray last week, but didn't hear youz had been awarded the points. What was that about? Was it anything to do with their financial troubles?

Is that the Enda McGuill Cup draw incidentally? Or is there a League Cup as well now?

This is supposed to be first round but there was also supposed to be a preliminary round where:
St. Pats V Crumlin
Dublin Uni V Dublin City

i presume the original reason for this was due to there being 10 teams in the Dublin Section and 8 in the others. this would have meant that after 2 rounds (subsequent to preliminary round) there would have been 2 teams remaining from each section to go into open draw and that would have been your quarter finals.

garda pulling out must have put a spanner in the works as there are now 18 ties above and all of the scheduled prelim teams remain. perhaps the format has been changed - it remains to be seen.

Yes it was. BW awarded the game 3-0 as Shels declined to field a team.
