Great signing for Arsenal.

Good player alright, very much in the "Arsenal" mould. Approx £7m which is a decent price. Am I right in thinking that Dortmund paid about double that to get him from Sparta Prague?? I'm sure I read that somewhere.....

yeah i'm almost sure they paid 12/13 million to sign him from Sparta. There in dire financial trouble, hence the quick cheap sell.

I read it was 18m sterling.

I stand corrected - "He cost Dortmund £18m - a Bundesliga record - when he arrived from Sparta Prague in 2001. "

I think this opens the door for Pires to leave. Rosicky and Hleb are much younger whereas Pires is on the downside of his career.

Madness...it's not as if Prague was a team that could DEMAND figures like that. Dortmund went through a crazy phase though spending huge amounts on players and it was a gamble that didn't pay off. I think they also spent £18 on that Brazilian striker from Parma who's name escapes me for the moment...

Amoroso. I think he's at Milan now. He played for Sao Paulo (sp.) in the WCC against Liverpool.

That's right, I'm shocked he's at Milan now:eek: Would you believe he had a trial at Celtic about 2 years ago when he finished at Dortmund but it never went any further. Not sure if it was because O' Neill didn't rate him or he didn't fancy it himself.
