So how are our clubs going to do in Europe?

I reckon Pat's won't win on Sunday so will go out against Rijeka - in the Champions' League I expect Shels to win both legs against Hibernians but lose both legs against Boavista.

In the UEFA Cup I expect Dundalk to lose both legs and Rovers to draw at home and lose away.

Altogether it would be 2.5 points so 0.833 for the coefficient which isn't too bad but we should be doing better. Hopefully one of the UEFA Cup teams can cause a surprise, though I won't be holding my breath! ;)

Sounds about right although relying on $hels a lot for the ranking points.

Doesn't sound to great to get thumped away in first leg but if that happened to rovers or dundalk maybe they could get a token win at home in 2nd leg - was good enough for city when played gothenburg. Summer foot.ie has to surely help a bit this year too?

eL wins are now expected to at minimum get to 2nd qualifying round of the CL going to be hard enough to make any progress in the uefa cup as looks like hard draws for foreseeable future.

We just need a bit of luck really. I know it would have been an awful draw in terms of travel but Rovers should have been able to beat Dinamo Tbilisi if they'd been drawn against them (ex-CWC Winners or not!)

Although I wouldn't expect either Rovers or Dundalk to cause many problems for their opponents it wouldn't be a huge shock for either of them to qualify.

hmmm....remember france and the world cup????

trust me I saw Rijecka...pats can and will finish the job

Rijeka are a good all round unit with about two exceptional players, they'd deffo beat any other EL team but we seem to cause them all sorts of problems in certain areas especially at our favourite: set pieces

prediction Saints 2 Rijecka 1

i dont know how the other teams will fare but shels wont score in malta in july they simply wont be able for the conditions as they dont prepare as professionally as saint pats

if the return leg is half as exciting as the first than, incredible as it sounds, the toto game will be better than the boring old world cup final!

Just checking up on Varteks' result last season and in the qualifying round of the UEFA Cup they were drawn against Vaduz of Liechtenstein. In the first leg, away from home, they were 3-1 down with 5 minutes to play! It finished 3-3 and they won the 2nd leg 6-1 at home but it gives some hope to Dundalk.

As for Bohs last season Halmstads were a better team than them but Bohs did match them for most of the 1st leg (it was just Halmstad's speed on the break which caught out Bohs).

It would be great if either one of Dundalk or Rovers could qualify because of course full points are then awarded in the 1st round proper.

Rubbish. Shels have had a training camp in France. I didn't hear of Pats doing anything like that, they were probably too busy doing their day jobs!

Actually they were in a training camp in Ireland, ppreferring to use the excellent facilities we've built up rather than go to France which although sounds impressive won't actualy help them anymore than doing the training here

malta is a graveyard for 'beer 'n sun' teams like shels
ure players are all mercenaries and will treat it as a holiday, dont kid yourself....malta in july will be baking.....fail to prepare, prepare to fail

I think your prediction will be about as accurate as that of JC_GUFC's was for the Pats game -thankfully he was wrong.

BTW you sound like a City fan.......are you looking forward to being hammered on the opening day of the season? Of course if Ollie Cahill scores the City fans will be trying to turn your loss into some sort of moral victory !
