Maybe all this should be kept to 'List of all Irish players in Britain' thread but would it make sense to have it made a sticky in its own right?

Confirmed:
Karl Bermingham - Man City
Richie Partridge - Sheffield Wednesday
Cathal Lordan - Ipswich
Gerard Nash - Ipswich
Graham Barrett - Coventry
Brian O'Callaghan - Notts County
Ritchie Ryan - S****horpe.
Billy Dennehy - Sunderland.
Gary Breen - Sunderland

Maybe:
Colin Healy - Livingston
Kenny Cunningham - Birmingham

Richie Partridge by Sheffield Wednesday

That's a real shame that. I had hopes of him becoming a great player. Scored a couple of cracking goals for Coventry when on loan from Liverpool.

I never quite understand how players go from being developed by one of the really big clubs to not even being good enough for division 1. A club like Liverpool can't have got it that wrong.

In fairness, he was eight at the time, and they played him in goals.

Cathal Lordan and Gerard Nash were released by Ipswich a few weeks ago. I thought Lordan in particular might have done something. He looked decent after banging in their two goals in the Youth Cup Final last season.

I don't know if they get it so wrong as such. I think that they take an interest in players who show potential when young but very few are anywhere near the finished article. They rely on these players to develop and get better with age. Some do, some don't, some get far better while others only become slightly better.

Take Joey O'Brien for instance. Allardyce reckons he was planning to let him go only a couple of seasons ago as he never looked like a player but less than two years later he's playing in the first team week in week out.

Who knows. If Partridge wasn't injured for so much of his career he would probably have made the right wing position at Liverpool his own by now. Another manager would have been a help too. Gerrard is the only player that Houllier brought through the ranks in his 6 years at the club, ironically he spotted Gerrard while going to watch Partridge in a reserve game. They were both promoted to the first team at an early age.

There was a point last season when a load of Liverpool fans wanted Partridge to get a start as he was so impressive coming off the bench in the Carling cup and changing games. I think he can still have a decent career ahead of him but his Ireland chances are all but gone at the age he's at.

Injury has been a curse for Partridge. His injury history meant that he was only ever going to get six month contracts too. As with many other players just when he got a sniff at Liverpool he got injured.
Its unlikely that he'll come home and play in the EL as his partner is English (Michael Owens sister). I think he had a choice of clubs when he signed for Sheffield Wednesday, Bristol Rovers being one of them.

Tottenham have no intention of releasing Kelly, in fact they have been trying to get him to commit. Clearly though he will be leaving - West Ham seem very keen.

Cathal Lordan has apparently signed for Cork City. Not 100% on the details yet.

I don't think Stephen Kelly is in the released category.

I have to laugh at the partridge cheerleaders out in force again. If he was good enough a Championship club who just avoided relegation would not be releasing.

No surprise Barrett released as not good enough.

A lot of these players developed by top clubs might have been great when joined those clubs but 3-4 years of reserve team football & the very occasional loan move to lower leagues doesn't do much for development.

Stephen Kelly is going to be leaving Spurs. & If they get back to the top flight, Gary Kelly should do the same for Leeds!
looks like he may as well leave. just from skysports.com :

Tottenham have failed with a £2 million enquiry for Wigan Athletic's unsettled defender Pascal Chimbonda.

Paul Jewell is hugely frustrated with the talented right back, who was one of the stars of Wigan's first-ever season in The Premiership.

Spurs are one of a number of clubs keen on signing the 27-year-old, who slapped in a transfer request directly after the final day defeat at Arsenal.

"Tottenham made an enquiry last Thursday," Jewell revealed to Sky Sports News. "I think it was a bid of £2 million for Pascal.

"For some who don't know, he was in the Professional Footballers' Association Team of the Year. If you get me anyone in that team for £2 million you'll be doing alright."

Brian O'Callaghan has been released by Notts County.
That was supposed to be the most surprising of the releases. From a notts county fansite:

Of that list, the only relative surprise was the release of Brian O’Callaghan, who has been a regular in the side this term. Making thirty-two appearances, he is, by far, the most drawn upon inclusion of this list in terms of first team involvement

It has to be either Duff or SWP leaving but I agree, SWP is unfortunately the most likely. Duff is twice the player Simao is.

Dont agree with you there, Duff may be better than Simao but hardly twice as good as him..

according to the squad list for the upcoming Under-19's games, Martin Reilly is unattached, which I guess means he was released by Burnley, too bad,it would have been nice to have seen a Cavan player make it.

From an Ipswich website......"Released central defender Gerard Nash is included in Town's squad travelling to the west of Ireland to face Galway United in their second pre-season friendly this evening (KO 7.45pm). Nash has been training with the rest of the squad having been given time to impress new manager Jim Magilton."

Regarding Colin Healy from the same website... "Trialists Colin Healy and Eugen Bopp have not been asked to return to the club."
