"Neither Bray manager Pat Devlin nor his assistant Tony McGuirk were present tonight at the Brandywell as Bray Wanderers slipped to a 3-0 loss at the hands of Derry City."
If thats true - that is shocking!!!!

RTE Radio 1 commentary team verified that neither of them were at the game. Devlin certainly sounded like he was backing away from Bray when interviewed about his new FAI job a few weeks ago. The end is nigh I imagine.

Devo is no longer manager.
He is "Director of Football", with no responsibility for the first team.
He is "Director of Football", with no responsibility for the first team.
What does that mean anyway? Seems Devlin has continued his likening for playing with titles & roles...
Will Bray receive compensation from the FAI [poaching thier manager/agent/advisor/director?

To be fair pete, it was a journalist who assigned that title to him.
He has no direct role.
McGuirk is in charge, assisted by Eddie Gormley. Devo said that it was time for him to step back, but that he would be available for Bray in any role they wanted him in

Was Eddie Gormley there? Who was on the bench?

Makes you think though .... if the league held out a small bit more when Devlin was being a complete whinging bítch over the ten team league we might still have one. :o
Can we change it back now hes not looking ?? :D

Why? because Pat wasn't there to direct the football ??

You underestimate his motivational skills. It could easily have been 4-0.

6 or 7 if it wasnt for that keeper or the bar, the ball just doesnt want to go in for Pat McCourt who hit bar from corner and post from about 25 yard free kick or Mchugh, who nearly lost it in the first half when the keeper made a brilliant save from his header.

What do you mean, like raise the bar .... how perfectly fitting given this thread is devoted to a man who continually strides to improve Irish football and as you say "raise the bar" !!

A face not happy with Devo...my god pigs are flying. Seriously, do you ever get bored of bad mouthing "your" countries B-Team manager?
Speranza

What a stupid remark Frank. It's because it's "his" countries B-Team manager that he cares. Do you expect people to just toe the part line?

Where was McGuirk? I mean he is gaffer after all, is he not? I know he has Irish underage responsibilities too, but surely he has to be in the dugout on a Friday/Saturday night?

Exactly Speranza, cheers for that.
And Frank, i know we haven't seen eye to eye on everything but in fairness man, a serious question .... why aren't any of the Bray fans even commenting on this ... its as if you lot dont care, and you give out to any fans that do. The whole thing stinks imo, i know many are saying "its just one more scandal to add to the list" but that is not good enough reason to just keep silent and toe the party line.
IMO your voices should be the loudest ... Bray are being treated like a coffee shop at the moment, the two lads just pop in when ever. Its your first year in the prem in a while and the two guys at the helm are gone AWOL as they pursue other interests. Do you not think that is outragous ?? I do

I think Bray fans are happy that they weren't relegated last year and Devo lives on that. It shows an amazing lack of ambition on the part of the Bray board that they allow Devlin to act like he does. I am personally not happy of him being manager of the B team because he doesn't have the CV and I just don't trust the man.

What are you on about ? Ask any Bray fan and they will tell you that they were very unhappy to miss out on last seasons cup final and we should have finished higher than 7th in the league. No matter what people think of the man, that has nothing to do with it, people don't know him and have made pre-judged thoughts about him. Stoping Devlin taking his position with the FAI would be like stoping a player playing for his country, which IMO is VERY wrong.
How can you say you don't trust when when you don't even know him ? honestly like, that's just horse s*ite

fair enough roo, but look at the situation now! Going downhill rapidly with no-one apparently giving a toss.
Same happened a few years ago - we had one great season finishing fourth, then devo went AWOL again and tumbled down the league. The guy must be weeded out of the club and some proper structures put in place.
Oh, and someone told me McGurk was at a party on Friday night!!

Why do I have to know someone personally in order to not trust them? Devlin is an agent/adviser and a manager. I don't think that is kosher. That is why I don't trust him.

Things might be a little different here at Bray, than at other Eircom League clubs. I for one, don't know a Bray Wanderers without Pat Devlin at the helm, and suspect that without his sustained input, we could easily have become a fixture in the lower reaches of the First Divison. This has earned him much leeway, and perhaps, an acceptance that he wouldn't miss a game without feeling the necessary structures have been put in place to cover his absence. It's not ideal, but most would respect his achievements with Bray Wanderers. Also when he was "out" after his hip operation last season, he was discretely watching from the stands for plenty of the games. Bray predominantly have a "family" support...but don't mistake the lack of aggression from the stands for an apathy regarding results.

C'mon Speranza .... how can you spot a pick pocket until you leave him take your wallet, you have to leave him break your trust before you can actually have a lack of trust for him.

It's a disgrace that Devo and McGuirk couldn't be arsed to travel to Derry. My guess is Devo was probably on his way to Newcastle. He hasn't stepped down as manager but he's not doing the job. Bray have no ambition whatsoever, putting up with this...

Why is it still unclear if Pat Devlin is your manager?

Devlin has'nt given up the managers role yet. It's a disgrace that both the manager and his assistant were abscent last Friday. The worst thing to happen us is that there is no relegation this season (at present) because Devlin does'nt seem to be bothered by results knowing that we can't go down.

Don't bank on that 'no relegation' thing- it's more complex than that. Devo is bringing us back down to Div. One yet again. I'm so sick of this, not going to Dalymount on Friday.
There's a kind of malaise about Bray at the moment. The planning application for the new stand was submitted on 27th March, but was incomplete:
http://www.wicklow.ie/eplanBray/InternetEnquiry/rpt_ViewApplicDetails.asp?validFileNum=1&app_num_file=0683
Then was resubmitted on 27th April,
http://www.wicklow.ie/eplanBray/InternetEnquiry/rpt_ViewApplicDetails.asp?validFileNum=1&app_num_file=06106
which means there will be no roof until next year.

Good I personally don't like all the fans booing the players and so-forth. They need our support.

They need our support- and we need a manager. Was Devo in Newcastle last weekend?
