"This team will go on without him," Menton, general secretary of the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) told the Daily Mail newspaper.

"There is a limited life cycle to a player's career and it had to come at some stage. It happened to be sooner than expected but so be it."

The FAi obvious view as having a choice between Mick McCarthy & *** Keane. They choosing *** Keane as clearly Mick would resign otherwise. Do they really have another choice?

Micks staying for another 2 years & since Keane not goinbg to play while Mick there thats effectively means he 'retiring'.

Tact is everything .... unless you dont have it !! :)

I'd say there is a bit more going on behind the scenes though.

Micky Mac has now claimed that he'll win the next Euro. Now theres confidents for ya !!

Menton claims today that he was misquoted by 'English based' journalists....
