I was afraid Gary might lose his place having lost his placce at UCD. Let's hope the lads get more caps. Quigley certainy should.

That means that the games against Longford (H) and Dublin City (A) are likely postponed. Which would be good news for those heading to Cardiff for the rugby!

If it was the STIG mobile and exam schedule permitting, I might. I think I have an exam when the Longford game is. However, they'll both probably be rescheduled when I'm in Slovenia.

Good to see our reserves are of a high enough standard for the Ireland under 21s. ;)

Maybe he's not dropped, lets face it theres a whole lots worse players than him in your first eleven. Pete could be just planning for life without Dicker......
No windup intended...
Is Quigley really that good? Kearneys goal last week...?
Is Dicker only getting in the squad so Given can scout him in training? Seems starange he in U21 squad when not playing fr UCD...?

Haven't seen Quiqley play(yet!), but surely their are better keepers in the EL than him?

Kearney's goal was a blip. He's been superb this season - better than the past two even. Makes some superb saves and is getting very good command of his box.
Dicker will be back in the UCD team shortly, I've no doubt. There's been no official approaches, so there's no point planning for his departure at the moment.
Sligoman - if there's a better keeper than Quigley in the league (and it's possible there's not), he'd have to be under 21 and Irish to make the squad. That rules out Forde, Williams, O'Connor, Delaney, Connor, Devine and most of the others.

I thought yer allowed a few overage players in the squad too though?.

I thought yer allowed a few overage players in the squad too though?.No. That's only the rule in EL Under 21 league because it's a replacement for a reserves' league so there has to be a way for older players coming back from injury to play.
Pete, I think Dicker's out of the UCD team for non-footballing reasons.

so what is the non-footballing reasons for him to be out of the team?

There was an interview in some paper a while back where Mahon said something about some international players having an inflated view of themselves or something like that. I think that was around the time that Dicker was dropped. Someone might have a link to it maybe?

I doubt he would try to slate one of his players true the press. Personally I dont know why he on the bench but he's a better player than Cawley did you see him cost you the goal against Drogheda. It was comical he totally pulled out of the challenge in the box. Maybe Pete would rather play someone who's just come back from England instead of someone who could be on there way over..... either way we would have him at Pats if he's not good enough for UCD.

No I recorded it, it was Cawley. He pulls out of it and pretends he had nothing to do with it. I was having a few beers with my mates and we fell about the place laughing at it, I couldn't believe he didnt stick his foot in. If you ask me thats the reason he never made it in England, he just didnt have to bottle he's got nice footwork but he just lack the balls. He looks so light, he headed the ball as well and he nearly broke his neck.

he told some of his younger players to stop believing their publicity.I thought there was more to it than that.

Thats bull i reckon anyway it was your experienced players who have a lot to answer for.... two defeats at the start lets drop a young international player and make him a scape goat for a team lacking in experience. I think Dicker is getting a raw deal, he'd get into most other LOI teams.

He'll get back into this one soon enough.

Maybe not though, if Mahon isn't happy with him he could be on the bench for a while. I can't believe we didn't get him anyway I heard he supported Pats as a kid.....
thegit are you dicker in disguise? :) No really he's a v good player but his form has dipped since being called up to U21's albeit he has had a niggling injury with his ankle the last month or so. He has potential but has to learn a lot. He gives the ball away way too much and that is why people are talking about being inexperienced. He will click shortly and then England will follow. As for the experienced players, its a team game, just because your young doesnt excuse you.
Sligoman how can you say that there are better keepers in the league and you havent even see Quigley play!!!

Oh by the way while reffing a Superleague game last night I saw one of the UCD squad get carried off from by one of the physios/coaches. I couldn't see who it was but he was given a piggyback ride (one would assume due to his inability to walk) back to the Sport Centre.

Bambi. I wish i if i was i'd sigwas, and n for f**kin Pats. Players cant be blamed for giving the ball away either you have to look at some of the move ment of the rest of the team. I was at the game last saturday and all UCD did was try to knock the long ball over the top and make the two forwards chase it down. Theres v little build up play.
Quigley is without doubt the best young keep in the league if not the best.

Far too much of this alright. When we brought the ball forward and crossed it in properly, we were much more dangerous. Hopefully this hoofing won't be a regular thing.
