Hollywood actor Tom Cruise is planning to eat his new baby’s placenta, it emerged today.

It is the latest in a series of unusual revelations by the 43-year-old Mission Impossible star about the child he is expecting with fiancee Katie Holmes.

He told GQ magazine: “I’m gonna eat the placenta. I thought that would be good. Very nutritious. I’m gonna eat the cord and the placenta right there.”

Cruise has also claimed he knew actress Holmes, 27, was pregnant, even before she told him.

A follower of Scientology, he has defended the religion’s belief that women should give birth in silence.

“It’s really about respecting the woman. It’s not about her not screaming,” he has told GQ.

Cruise, who also believes he can cure drug addicts, plans to marry Holmes in the summer. He said earlier this month that their baby was due “any day now”.

Eating the placenta isn't that unusual to be honest.
Eating it 'right there' would be, but I assume that was him getting excited again, I doubt the medical staff would allow him to produce a frying pan at the moment of the Child's birth.

I thought the point of eating the placenta was that the mother ate it for the nutrients, not that the father ate it so he could brag to his friends/the media about it.

Well ya know he does most, if not all his own stunts... maybe the brain has hit 1 too many choppers & walls over the while. Loop!

It's cannibalism if ya ask me... the baby has no say in it!

Wat happened with Ophra on the couch?

I used to like the guy but lately he's came out with a lot of strange stuff and behaviour. The media are definately jumping on it though and portraying him to be some sort of Warlock with his Scientology lark.

I doubt half the stories are true but he doesn't help himself does he...

Jerk . . jerk . . you're just a jerk, remember that?
I'd say he's just gullible more than anything.

Katie Holmes and fiancé Tom Cruise are celebrating the birth of their first child, a baby girl.

The baby, named Suri, was born yesterday and weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces.

Cruise's publicist, Paul Bloch, said in a statement that both mother and baby were "doing well".

The statement said that the name Suri was of Hebrew origin, meaning 'Princess', or Persian, meaning 'red rose'.

Details of where the baby was born were not released.

Yeah, the man was less than impressed with being squirted with water. Must be a total loon.

The media seem to be happy to portray everything he does as totally loopy, but it does look like he's making sure they're right more often than not.

Not sure if there's a link, but during the Oprah Winfrey show, he decalred his love for Katie Holmes by jumping up and down on the couch like a loony....

Not attached to the baby (or the mother for that matter) any more!

Fried placenta is perfectly healthy - very good for you too, as pointed out.

It mightn't be attached to either part but it was once part of a person! That's almost as bad as cannibalism in my book.

Founded by a poor science fiction who was quoted as saying "the easiest way to make a million dollars is to set up your own religion "

Normally when some one goes this weird his career should dive bomb but since the scientoligist's controll hollywood it will do him more good than harm .i think most join for this reason its like the stone masons etc .At least you get something out of this religion if cruise has paid $2 mill its only because he made $20+mill thanks to them , the Catolic church just takes the money you get nothing ! Who's crazy now ????

I saw an interview with Tom yesterday morning and this whole thing is a non story. A reporter asked if he planned on eating the placenta, he replied, "yeah, of course I am, I'm gonna eat the lot, chord and all, wink wink nudge nudge," laced with sarcasm. Of course that is not the way the papers reported it. Also, the Katie has to stay silent thing was a load of bull too. As he said himself, she can shout and scream and cry all she wants, and can have as many drugs as will make it more bearable, the only thing we insist as part of our faith (sic) is that the number of people around us, doctors, nurses etc are kept to minimum and that those that are there make a little unnecessary noise as possible.

Typical tabloid rubbish turning a non-story into 5 months of headline news!
