Setanta Sports Cup final tickets in demand in Drogheda and Cork

Cork City and Drogheda United both received on Friday their initial allocation of 3,500 tickets each for next Saturday’s Setanta Sports Cup Final at Tolka Park. Drogheda United tickets went on sale at outlets in the city and by 2pm, almost 1,500 tickets had been sold to United fans.

Cork City tickets will go on sale at outlets around Cork over the weekend. Irish Rail have made plans to run a special train from Cork to Dublin for the match. The Special Train will leave Kent Station Cork at 11.05hrs on Saturday and will serve Mallow (dep. 11.29hrs) and Charleville (dep. 11.47hrs) arriving in Dublin Heuston Station at 14.05hrs.

Selling very well in Drogheda. Club officials are going to meet the Setanta Committee looking for an increase in their allocation.

Not stirring now, but by that do they mean Dublin City?
Drogs fanbase is impressive now at this stage.
3,500 each only?
Where are the rest of the tickets going?

He means in Drogheda obviously!!

For the FAI Cup final most of our tickets were sold the week of the final!! I reckon with the build up in our local paper on wednesday we should sell out our allocation (including the extra tickets the club hope to get)

In yesterday's Sunday Tribune in the business section (Ad Lib by John Mulligan) - Setanta have added 10,000 extra subscribers in Scotland since the smoking ban came in there. They report that it has "substantially beaten its customer targets for sign-ups".

Love to know what effect the Setanta Cup has had on sign-ups over here. Might be hard to quantify with Setanta now available on Cable as well as Sky.
Thought digital telly has micro computer chips that record everything to give feedback????

All our allocation for the Richmond road stand are sold and there are only a small number left for the Ballybough end afaik. Should be a great final, let the festivities begin.:)

2850 sold up to lunchtime yesterday (Sunday). Expect big demand this week hence the club are seeking an additional allocation.

going to be a lot of disappointe ddrogs who will have left it too late to get their tickets. 3500 tickets is a bit silly given the amount of support both clubs brought to Lansdowne. Pity the rubgy was on this weekend as Lansdowne might very well have been a good option.

How many can Winsor Park hold?

Setanta cup just isn't as big a draw at the moment. Setanta would obviously prefer a packed Tolka than half empty Lansdowne

Would be very difficult/impossible for Setanta to know what part of their subscribers can be attributed to the Setanta Cup, as when you sign-up there is no method of informing them of why you're joining.

I'm fairly sure that Digital TV systems do not send back viewing pattern figures. Sky definitely doesn't - the only feedback loop they have is down your telephone line, which a lot of subsribers (myself included) leave unplugged. It would show on your phone bill if they were using that route. For a digital box to send back messages apart from via the phone lines, it would in-effect need to be a transmitter as well as a receiver, which would make it a lot more complicated a piece of kit.

If they did it would show on your phoen bill

Looks like the Drogs fans got the short end of the stick by being placed in the Richmond and Ballybough Stands!

What is the capacity of Tolka , First we were told 10,000 and now they are saying 8,400 , which is correct?

Well it's about 9,750 afaik but when I say the wrong end of the stick I'm going by the lack atmosphere which can be created in these stands!

No - the short end of the stick is not qualifying for the final at all ;)

tolka's capacity was supposedly 9600 before the c.800 capacity lego stand was added a few years ago. the capacity should be just over 10,000. but according to the Rovers forum theres 500 broken seats in the riverside and a 100 or so unusable diabolical view seats in the very last block at the drumcondra end of the riverside. i assume the capacity of 8400 takes this into account
