G'day my southern friends.

Just to let you know that Gareth Cronin was at Rovers friendly with Dublin City yesterday in a Rovers tracksuit and deep in conversation with Joe Colwell.

No idea what that means but I thought I'd let yis know. We were all sure he was a Cork City player already but looks like he's still a Hoop.

He's still working in the Pale so maybe he's gonna be training with the Shams for the season...?

Yeah, thats possible because I think Billy trained with ramblers when he was playing with the scum.

Is Gaz as good a player as he was a few seasons ago? last year was a bit of a night mare for him with rvs!(injury considered and all)

He will not be as good a player as a fgew years ago for sure. I wouldn't be building a back 4 around him & at the very least he should be good cover.

To be honest I couldn't tell you how good he is now, it's so long since he played for Rovers.

He was very unlucky getting injured just as Richie Byrne emerged as a quality left full.

And, he was a victim of Richardson's appalling man management. He was the only player to openly question the manager during the 4-6 debacle.

While we were screaming from the terraces for Rico to chage things, Cronin came over to the dug out and bawled him out of it. Then he got injured and that was that.

Mick McCarthy so reminds me of Richardson it's not even funny. A pair of tactically naive wimps.

P.S. Best of luck to Billy Woods next season, just as long as he doesn't do anything against us.

Got the following info from one of the players today. Gareth is still with Rovers. His contract has another year to run and Rovers are looking for 5000.00 euro I presume. He trained with City 4 or 5 times but didn't train last night. The ball is now in City's court to come up with the money or wait until his contract runs out. :(

At least in other countries the local papers will approach clubs about rumours and get the official position.

We never know where City stands and what is going on...something which should be inproved on while we're talking about improving things eh!

ah come on niamh you dont expect the football correspodents to work for a living do you. if that happened they might have to travel outside of dublin to report on matchs. now that would be scandalous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;)

And I was sure I spotted a Dublin based journalist at the Cross once or twice last season...

hopefully gareth won't end up like philip long or fergie o'donoghue and cum back for us to find out his best years are behind him. gareth will probably at most be a squad player.

anyway I am more concerned about our lack of coverage up front. pat/ jimmy/ colin p/ steven o'flynn and georgie boy of whom each is either too old, injured, inexperienced, not talking to the manager or un proven.

see ye all the shels game by the way. can't wait ( I think I feel a sick day coming on:D )
