Has anyone heard the reason why Eamon Dunphy has been sacked from RTE's world cup programme (apart from 'unable to fulfill contract' statement issued by RTE today)?

said on the radio that it was 'cos of his comments on the show this morning, but I don't remember him saying anything unusual - it was strange the way he was only there for a bout five minutes though

Looking at it yesterday, his speech was very slurred when he was commenting about the Jason McAteer thing and he put on a bookie bet for Japan to beat Russia too while on an add break (says Peter Collins... mighty man to host the 12:30 match and get to Canada for the grand prix too :P <joke, I know it was Declan:P> ok I'm off on a tangent here. Bottom line Eamo was visibly drunk/hungover.

I don't think i saw RTE yesterday for the Japan match but that thing abou him putting on a bet during the match sounds familiar.

So did he just come into "work" hungover & look like he didn't give a toss?

Ok, heres the full story. He was in Lillies with Ray Houghton the night before, came home at 4:30 and couldnt sleep so he listened to his Bob Dylan Records. Apparentley he is exhausted from getting up at 5am every day to work on Roys book.
