St Patrick’s Athletic boss John McDonnell insists he will not be using tonight’s League Cup clash with Bray Wanderers as a friendly.

McDonnell will select his strongest possible squad with Stephen Quigley back from illness though Stephen Caffrey is ruled out with a groin problem.

Bray will give Terry Masterson and Stephen Roche their first starts of the season.

I've seen Roche a good few times for the U21's, very good player. Masterson is supposed to be an excellent kepper and once fully fit will push O'Connor for a place in the starting line up. Personally i reckon we should play a strong as possible team with the prise on offer for winning the league cup.

Paul Keegan bagged his first goal of
the season as St Patrick's continued
their unbeaten start to the campaign.

John McDonnell's men started brightly
and went ahead in the 20th minute. Mick
Foley stooped to send a low diving
header into the far corner.

Pat's went two up on the hour. Mark
Quigley slipped in Sean O'Connor to
beat the offside trap inside the box.
Chris O'Connor got down to take the
ball off his toe only for Keegan to nip
in and score from close range.

Wanderers pulled one back from the spot
when Robbie slotted home after Darragh
Maguire fouled Kieran O'Brien.

Fair play to you boys i know it's only early on in the season etc but you's have started well and deserved your win last night. A lot of experts had a pop at you before a ball had even been kicked this season maybe they should concentrate on their own teams hey anyway good luck for the rest of the season.

A much deserved win last night, ya played very well in the 1st half. The only disapointing was Keegan getting Wes Charles booked when he dived. Was'nt a bad match considering it was the league cup. Better team won.

Thought it was an alright game. Not much goal mouth incidents either way. From where I was Keegans goal looked offside, anyone have a good view and know for defo. But then wasn't too sure about our peno decision either so can't really complain. Think a draw whould have been a fair result, but neither side could really complain if they had lost.

Yeah thought it was a good game actually.

The fact that there was no atmosphere really took away from it imo. Good play around the middle of the pitch but both sides seemed to run out of ideas when they got into the final third.

He signed from rovers during the season.
Looked good on saturday v Sligo and again last nite.
