It might not be one for the football purists but the apprentice comes up against his teacher at Flancare Park on Saturday night. Longford boss Alan Matthews was assistant to current Dublin City boss Demot Keely at Shelbourne. At the moment both sides are making themselves hard to beat and Longford have achieved two draws while Dublin City have lost two but beaten Derry.

Longford Town vs Dublin City
(Flancare Park - 7:30 pm - Premier)
Referee: Tony Kelly

Potentially these could be two of the strugglers in the division come the end of the season so a positive result for either would be a huge boost in that battle.

Longford are without Davy Byrne and he is expected to miss about a month's action due to the ankle injury picked up against Sligo during the week. Otherwise, Longford should have everyone to call from although David Mooney is expected to miss out also.

Mark Rooney and Ben Whelehan are out with injuries for Dublin City while Dave McGill is suspended.
Paul Crowley is available again after a one game ban. Alan Keely should return after flu.

Another shocking performance under the belt and 2 more points dropped.Never looked like scoring, created feck all and as per usual we couldn't string 3 passes together. Is it any wonder that people are saying "i'm not coming out to watch that ****e again".

after going to the aforementioned match we are in for a long hard struggle this season. does matthews not realise that seeing this droll week in week out at home is driving the regulars away!

sorry Martinho, but I think that in defence we were more then good enough and in Kevin Doherty we have a real star... In reality Dublin Citys goal was against play. Our threat going forward was rubbish and persisting with Baker up front is a waste of time

It was a shocking goal to concede but we're fairly sound at the back.As regards the rest, well nobody appears to know what they're suppose to be at.It was one of Myler's better performances in a Town jersey but he still done feck all.Dessie deserves his place in the team whether people like him or not and he does get goals.

A shambolic performance and totally unacceptable. Can't expect people to go and watch that, never mind pay 15 euro. One of the worst 90 minutes of football I can remember.

The only highlight of the game was the Dublin City chant:

"Who is Mourinho..... we got Dermot Keelio!"
