lawson cup

ul/aisling1-2wembley

great result for us ul thought all they had to do was turn up and win didnt take us seriously one bit maybe a bit of arrogance on their part. the scoreline flattered them to be honest keeper kept them in it. any neutral or anyone involved with ul if they were been honest would also agree.

Was at wembly game on saturday nite, and they deserved to win match by even more, but some fantastic saves from spicer in UL goal kept the score line down a bit.

top four premier teams draw against each other

fairview v carew park/park rangers
balla v pike

the winners of them to games play each other on the last 8. i fancy pike v carew semi

shocking result from carew against the view.
from what i heard it should have been a few more.
carew seem to be losing the plot.
can't honestly seem them winning the league now when they can't beat as i have stated before the worst view team in over a decade !
i think one of the problems with carew is that they have not fielded the same 11 for any two matches running this season which is extremely unusual !
any comments lfc ???

carew must be concentrating on the league, can't blame them considering they've 7 matches left

they haven't won a trophy in years, it doesn't come much bigger locally then the lawson so to say they are concentrating on the league is total rubbish !

you should really find out some facts before you come on here posting carew park has lost the plot. these are the facts again fairview sat... evening carew park rested jason o connor lou qugliey pat mcgarry cyril maher. albert slattery and johhny corbett did not even last 30mins both came off injured both could of playing on but were not risked. headerball thats six of carew parks first 11 take any six players out of any team in this town and they will struggle. carew park really feel they have a good chance of winning the league it will be very tough but carew park are are more than good enough to keep winning there league games. its there best chance in years but i do agree with you on one thing if they dont win the league they will regret resting so many players for both cup games again the view and will not have anything to fall back on its a big gamble alright.

don't know how you can say its six of carew's first eleven when the man above does not even know carew's first eleven.
as i have previously stated carew have not played the same eleven two weeks running all season !
bottom line two terrible defeats to an average view team and every team should be trying their best to win the lawson so as your last sentence says, you really are agreeing with me !

carew not playing the same 11 two weeks running your wrong e.g mcgarry could not make the game again charaville when carew won 5 nil carew started the same 11 in MJC the following week mcgarry was dropped. another e.g 11 that beat pike also started again fairview in the league. and your right every team should be trying there best to win the lawson IMO i would of putting out my first 11 in both cups but thats not my call.

1/4 Final
Balla/Pike v Fairview
Dromore v Regional
Wembley v Herbertstown/Mungret
St.Pats/Prospect (get a bye to semis).

Star Rvs 1-3 Regional
Regional outplayed Star in the first half and in fairness should have been more than one up at half time, but the goal they got was a mistake on Star's behalf.

The second half Star came into it a bit more and pushed forward when Regional counter attacked and when trying to cross the ball into the box the ball hit a Star hand and Regional were awarded a dodgey enough peno (which they scored from) on 60mins.

Star pushed on and got back into it after 75mins when they pulled one back and when pushing forward for the equalizer the exact same thing with the handball situation happened in the Regional penalty area but the ref waved play on, but then with all Star players pushed forward Regional counter attacked again with 4 on 2 and got the 3rd to make it 3-1,

It must be said though that Star could easily have got them on another day maybe if Star had a full side out.

Overall as tight as it could have been I think Regional deserved their win and best of luck to them.

If Regional took half the chances they had the game would have been over after half an hour
Star struggled big time and they scored from the Regional keepers mistake, they never looked like scoring from open play, as for the penos Regional got one that was a peno, it wasn't from a cross Mick Behan tried to lift it over a Star players head and was blocked by a hand, Star had a fair shout for a peno aswell but it would have been an injustice the way the game went
I know Star were missing one or two but so were Regional, in the end Regional thorughly deserved the win the scoreline flattered Star, don't think that ref should be allowed to ref games like this though he was so far off the play it was ridiculous, making calls from the half way line!!

was at the balla v pike match on sunday and just have to mention that Bateman Park is gone beyond a joke. Its not lined , there is a two foot hole on the half way line , one of the goals is lobsided not to mention the fact that there are horses grazing on it. in this day and age are you telling me that this pitch is the best that Balynanty FC can come up with , for a club that has been around for so long its simply a disgrace to expect any team to play there.

2 good footballing teams reduced to hoofing the ball forward as it took about 8 touches to get the ball under control.

I think Corbally to beat Herbertstown 3-1 and advance.

But who will they face after that, what other teams are left?

Hi the www.ldmc.ie site is not in competition with this site but will assist in providing information to help all of you. I am sure the 12th man will agree, the LDMC site will never have a discussion board, and the more people discussing local soccer the better as dialogue is good so long as it is informed

There's plenty of room for other sites, particularly ones promoting local football so there's no problem as far as I'm concerned, keeping the dialogue good and informed is where the problems exist.:)

i guess carew's gamble on resting players for the cup matches will not pay off.
another trophyless season for carew !
with the squad of players they had they should at least have won a trophy but they are obviously not capable of it !

Well Most people say I should be retired but I think there is a few games left in me yet and a Lawson cup would be nice at my age, Dessie and Doc are still playing and are still as good. I am amused at the comments of people with regard to form and predictions. it only takes a few seconds to change a game be it a mistake or a flash of inspired skill, and the best teams in any cup are only 90 mins away from the worst.

well lads just wondering whats the story with wembley..unreal success at u-17/18 level over last 3/4 years, did they retain many of them lads? i think there is one lad, harrington playin with em these times, good player, is there many more?

14/05/2006, 7:05 PM
ya darren harrington gary joyce alier aujong have stayed on with us from their successful winning side youth side. thomas clarke paul danagher have signed for limerick. darren glasheen eddie brazier signed for the boro. a good few lads have gone back to clubs out in county limerick and clare where they come from to play local soccer or gaa . a few more cant make committment cause of been away at college.

still to be seen will we hang on to this new crop of players a lot of u17 team are still only 15 or 16 so while to go yet before they will be considered for junior team but least other 3 or 4 would prob walk into our team
