If Ireland win by 2 clear goals we're through. No matter what. Yeah?

Yes.
We beat Saudi 2-0 :
Ireland 5 points +2 goals.

Germany beat Cameroon.
Germany 7 points
Cameroon 4 points, we finish second.

Cameroon beat Germany.
cameroon 7 points
Germany 4 points , we finish second.

Germany Cameroon draw.
Both have 5 points
Germany +8 goals, Cameroon +1 goals.
We have +1 goals over Cameroon.

BTW, even 2 - 1 over Saudi could get us through if Cam v Ger is a
0-0 or 1 -1 draw as we would have scored more goals than Cameroon.

The only certainty assuming we don't win by 8 goals+) is Ireland cannot top the group & need a win to have a chance.

Even a 1-0 win by ireland & a 0-0 draw between other two could get us through.

Another one:
If we win 1-0 & 1-1 in other game FIFA would have to draw lots between us & Cameroon for 2nd place!!!!!!

Even though Saudi Arabia played a lot better today, I think if Ireland don't beat them we don't really deserve to go through. I'd fancy Duffer to have them spinning...

Been saying that myself today. Days of qualifying without winning a game are almost certainly gone.

I was a bit worried before the german game we wouldn't be able to maintain the form from the Cameroon game but thankfully we did & if Ireland & Saudi play like they have in the group so far we should win. After looking at the highlights last night realised we created far more chances against germany htan cameroon game with only Kahn denying us - his save from Duff was unreal!

We should be confident but not c***y. (bleedin' censor)

I'd like to see Quinn start against Saudi Arabia. Carsten Janker caused them a lot of problems when Germany played them so I think haveing a big target man could help a lot.

I don't know if he really did anyway as he only got 1 goal out of 8 dispite proabbly being on the pitch for 70 odd minutes.

Jancker is a poor excuse for an international german forward & amazing he still being picked.

I agree with you about Jancker, Pete. I do not think he caused any problems for anyone and his height is immaterial.

There seems to be a feeling that the Saudi game will be a doddle for us, but we have always had problems playing against sides with a mass defence. Remember Andorra?..... :(

Cameroon have to beat Germany (from a Cameroonionian point of view) a draw is no use as they have to assume that Ireland will get a two goal victory. It is also the only way to avoid Spain if Ireland don't do the business. I wonder what the frame of mind will be? I'll bet they were pretty confident about beating Ireland. Drawing and only putting one past the Saudis must have damaged their confidence. Having said that, Germany look dreadful and really don't deserve to get out of the group.
