George Hamilton. Without exaggeration he said Ireland instead of Leinster at least 10 times in first 20 minutes of Leinster Toulouse match.
It might have been understandable if he did it through force of habit because he commentates on so many Ireland games but they never let George do the Irish games and send him off to Cardiff or Murrayfield instead. I think now we know why! :)

I assumed he was doing it on purpose to highlight the number of internationals involved but I'm probably giving him too much credit.

In fairness Hooky doesn't get his facts wrong about rugby.. or football come to think about it... he does talk about it on Newstalk106... proudly claims to have supported Cork Athletic in his youth.

RTE are a bunch of hypocrites. Im sick of them lecturing Eircom LEague clubs (like why they arent in the Champions league) and at the same time providing **** poor tv coverage of the Eircom League.
RTE IDIOTS
Setantas coverage for the semi final last night was so much better than RTE. They just come across so much more enthuasistic whereas you feel someone forcing RTE to do it.
I wrote to RTE about several points recently, one of them being of the quality of coverage that Irish football gets in comparison to the English leagues. Below is the response to that section.
...may I say that soccer in Ireland will always be at a lower level so long as we export our best players to the “big” leagues. It is not RTE’s responsibility to prop up the Eircom league. We show the number of games from that level of football that we consider appropriate.
My questions about the quality were bypassed, and taken as wondering wht they don't show more games. Nowhere was the issue of poor presenters, and no time for p/reviews, etc, related to. I asked about a highlights show, and this response was also related to that. Basically they think the eL is too muck to have a highlights show (nothing new there, but to have them say it got up my nose somewhat!).

That's a really ****y attitude for them to take - that level of football being the highest level in Ireland - although it's no surprise. RTE are the highest level of broadcasting in Ireland so you can see why they wouldn't be impressed.

Disgraceful attitude but not surprised by rtengland's stance. Slag TV3 all you want but at least they have a dedicated programme for the league. Our national broadcaster never bothered their arse. Eircom league fans are license payers too.
Wouldnt waste your time corresponding with them. Like having a conversation with a barstooler. Pointless

Exactly it.
Same with the Radio 1 coverage. Its being done by people who know the league.
RTE television don't know the league.

Just wondering ..... do people pay their licenses ??
You just read a response from them, completely unreasonable to a paying customer yet they still take your license fee ...... is paying your license fee actually a good move ??
The FAI need to set up a media company and sell packages to RTE. The bulk of RTEs programme is done that way now. Good example is Prime Times Miriam O'Callaghan, quality programme, independant, quality stuff.
That imo is the only way we are going ot continue ensure there is a good standard of programming for Irish football. I have been saying it for years .... the old (unsuccessful) way is not working ..... a complete change of attitude and approach is whats called for. The FAI need to come out of the clouds and sort this fúcking thing out.

- Programme was very short because orginal date for coverage was moved & had to squeeze in before a movie & couldn't move Desparate Housewives (repeat) show that was on later. FAI requested the match be shown & RTE Sport were happy to do it.

Why did the FAI ask RTE to show THIS match. Surely RTE pick the games they want to show to get the highest ratings
IMO RTE are shooting themselves in the foot as Setanta are making a lot of progress so I can see situation where RTE start to lose CL, Premiership & International rights & at that stage will have p!ssed off the eL so much could be sent packing.
I think the viewing figures for eL matches have been good in recent years - some better some worse than others but thats to be expected when show 1 match & then none for next 3 months with little promotion...
By law RTE have to reply to complaints (including emails).
