Kilkenny City 2006 Season Preview
Manager: Adrian Fitzpatrick
Nickname: Cats
Best odds: 14/1 (Paddy Power)
Last season: 4th
Kilkenny enjoyed a stunning season last time around, climbing off the foot of the table to momentarily mount a promotion challenge. However, that was under Pat Scully, and with he joining Shamrock Rovers, and taking five more of his better players with him, Kilkenny have an entirely new playing roster at Buckley Park this season, with 19 additions in the close-season.
They will sorely miss Aidan Price, who has been installed as Hoops captain, while David O'Connor and Tadgh Purcell are others to have joined Scully at Rovers. Most of the new additions come from junior football, with the most notable acquisitions being goalkeeper Aaron Shanahan from Dundalk and ex-Coventry City midfielder Hussein Yazdani, who was released by Shelbourne. eleven-a-side.com verdict: 10th
